CHOPARD The pieces of the Precious Lace collection, with their delicate interweaving of diamonds, are the great classics of contemporary jewelry. Chopard’s iconic signature collection celebrates lightness and ease: so poetic and feminine, it expresses all the expertise of the Maison’s workshops in the art of jewelry and is here enhanced by the enchanting beauty of the British actress Poppy Delevingne.

Inspired by the lightness and immaculate whiteness of lace, the collection plays with light and space and combines diamonds and ethical white or pink gold to design fluid and complex openwork. A dialogue between strength and fragility, between the eternal brilliance of the diamond and the lightness of the lace that touch the skin as in the absence of gravity, halfway between Haute Couture and Haute Joaillerie.

Just as the collection plays with the light and lightness of the diamond, with shape and space, the theme also plays with the concepts of preciousness and with the fusion of stones and fabric, between Haute Joaillerie and Haute Couture. The art of lace was perfected in Venice in the sixteenth century and then conquered Europe, arriving in Belgium, France, Spain and England and picking up here and there different characteristics and styles. The lace, meticulously and skillfully handcrafted, was considered a rich ornament to embellish the collars, wrists, headdresses and ruffles worn by royal families and nobility. It was considered an extremely precious commodity, especially by the great Renaissance rulers, including Elizabeth I. Like jewels and precious stones, lace had also become a symbol of power.

With Precious Lace, the effect of an exquisite handmade lace is recreated by the drop-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds, by the play of their shapes and lines in the perforated space of each motif, to give a poetic cadence, a playful fluidity and a contemporary style with an absolutely classic theme. The delicacy of the lace is reproduced through the extreme precision of the gold processing, the very delicate frames and the ethereal appearance which, combined, enhance the brilliance of the diamonds and demonstrate the exquisite savoir-faire of the Maison’s craftsmen. An expertise that recalls that of the fairy hands in Haute Couture of which Chopard shares the values: choice of the noblest materials, a sense of detail, comfort and, above all, love for women.
