This year, Human Rights Day marks ten years since the United Nations recognized the right to water and sanitation as a right of humanity. On July 28, 2010, through Resolution 64/292, the United Nations General Assembly explicitly recognized “the right drinking water and safe and clean sanitation as a right of humanity ”. The same year, Giorgio Armani’s Acqua for Life global initiative for clean water was launched, with the mission of play a role in helping people to claim their right to clean water and sanitation.

Since then, Giorgio Armani’s Acqua for Life initiative has focused on providing access universal to drinking water in water-scarce regions. To date, Acqua for Life has invested a total of more than 9 million euros in water projects around the world. As a result, 413 systems of water supplies have helped over 217,000 people, in 15 countries and three continents, ad access drinking water.
Yet, even today, 1 in 10 people in the world do not have access to drinking water close to own home. Then, address the issues regarding clean water, sanitation and sanitation in communities that need it remains one of the fundamental challenges of the 21st century.
On 10 December, on the occasion of Human Rights Day, Armani beauty will emphasize the importance of universal access to clean water through a virtual video meeting between Ernest Randriarimalala, field manager in Madagascar, and actress Adria Arjona, face of Armani beauty. In Madagascar Acqua for Life, in collaboration with NGO WaterAid, has provided access for the past three years daily to clean water to over 1,000 students. In this conversation Adria Arjona and Ernest Randriarimalala will talk about the demonstrable impact of Acqua for Life on the supply of clean water to Manjankandriana district and why clean universal access continues to be such an important issue for the future of communities around the world. This conversation will be broadcast on December 10 on Armani Beauty’s Instagram account.
