On 3 September 2023, on the occasion of the “Giornate degli Autori” at the Venice International Film Festival, Miu Miu premiered the latest short film in the Miu Miu Women’s Tales series, Stane, directed by Croatian director Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović, winner of the Camera d’Or award in Cannes and then held a private dinner at Ca’ Corner della Regina.
During the event, Miu Miu announced a new exclusive project, the Miu Miu Women’s Tales Committee: a group of illustrious personalities from the world of cinema who will guide and accompany the authoritative series of short films in its future development and direct its intellectual course and cultural. Alongside co-founders Miuccia Prada and Verde Visconti, other members of the Miu Miu Women’s Tales Committee include award-winning director Ava DuVernay, of the short film Women’s Tales #5, celebrated actress, author and director Maggie Gyllenhaal and two-time Academy Award winner for costumes, production and set design Catherine Martin.
Now in its second decade of forward-thinking activity, the Miu Miu Women’s Tales series remains one of the most consistent and exclusive platforms dedicated to female filmmakers. The mandate of the Miu Miu Women’s Tales Committee includes broadening the project’s target audience – viewers, supporters and creators – evolving the Women’s Tales mission in the context of the world of cinema and culture, critically reframing its narrative in a perspective of continuous evolution and visibility at an international level.
