With the Richard Lange collection, master watchmakers revive a category of watches rich in history: the so-called “observation watches”. Thanks to their precision of movement, their good legibility and their robustness, they were indispensable precision instruments of many 18th and 19th century scientists. In the Richard Lange family of watches, everything is subordinated to the achievement of two objectives: maximum precision and the best possible legibility.

Today the Richard Lange watch, with its complications, interprets “observation watches” in a new way for the modern era, here are the most recent versions:

RICHARD LANGE “Pour le Mérite” The third Lange wristwatch with chain and perpetual screw operation, presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009.

Absolute precision at the service of science: the RICHARD LANGE “Referenzuhr” ZERO-RESTART, a brand new mechanism for resetting the seconds, the RICHARD LANGE “Referenzuhr” limited edition model completes the range of observation watches designed to measure time with absolute precision , presented in 2010.

In 2011 RICHARD LANGE TOURBILLON “Pour le Mérite” The fourth timepiece distinguished by the nickname “Pour le Mérite” by A. Lange & Söhne combines a chain and perpetual screw transmission with a tourbillon with a patented stop seconds system, two refined complications whose main objective is to improve running stability and therefore the accuracy of the watch. Its imposing regulator-type dial – which fascinates with a refined rotary mechanism – is inspired by a famous historical model.

In January 2014 the following was presented: RICHARD LANGE PERPETUAL CALENDAR «Terraluna» which brings together the aspiration to precision, the inventive spirit and design of A. Lange & Söhne in a masterpiece of haute horlogerie. With an orbital moon phase indication, perpetual calendar with large date, 14-day power reserve and tension mechanism, this exceptional timepiece reaches the pinnacle of Saxon watchmaking.

RICHARD LANGE LEAPING SECONDS reinterprets the scientific observation watch, combining the pursuit of maximum precision and perfect legibility. The seconds tensioning mechanism transmits constant energy to the balance wheel. The integrated jumping mechanism allows you to read the time to the exact second. The 39.9 mm platinum watch, presented at the Geneva Motor Show in January 2016, with the classic regulating dial is produced in a limited series of 100 pieces. While in January 2019 the version of the RICHARD LANGE LEAPING SECONDS with white gold case and black dial is presented. The technical-scientific design of the timepiece is highlighted through minimalistic red finishes.
