A t-shirt, hoodie, t-shirt and shorts featuring a provocative drawing of a man in the unmistakable Tom of Finland style: leather boots, gloves, cap and little else.
Accessories include a felt tote bag and a leather baguette bag with the design in red and white, finally Tom of Finland inspired keychains and Cap bags with lots of studs and piercings.
Tom of Finland (born in Finland in 1920) began producing thousands of images in the 1940s. His work challenged homophobic stereotypes by portraying hyper-masculine archetypes such as bikers, cops, cowboys, lumberjacks, as proud and enthusiastic about gay sex. Tom of Finland is the creator of some of the most iconic and easily recognizable images of postwar gay culture and is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
“We had a lot of fun working on the first collection, plus working with the Foundation was a pleasure,” Anderson said of the second round of the capsule. “The personality of Tom of Finland has always fascinated me. I collect all kinds of art including his drawings. To be able to use them in a JW Anderson collection is really exciting. I’m proud of this year’s collection and I love that we were able to expand it to include ready-to-wear. “
