Conceived during the lockdown period, Stella McCartney took this moment of pause to ask herself how and why we do everything, starting a conscious conversation about who we are and who we hope to be, through an alphabetic manifesto of the A to Z brand. Summer 2021 collection reflects this conscious attention to its core values, reusing fabrics to minimize waste and proposing a collection made with 65% sustainable materials. Fluid and experimental silhouettes contrast sportiness with the brand’s classic cuts, emphasizing a renewed love for the body and expressing a desire to elevate the spirit without neglecting the brand’s goal of creating a sustainable fashion industry.

A color palette that offers a rich and natural selection of soft shades of pink, khaki, peach, tangerine orange, light blue and bamboo, is presented alongside a variety of neutral graphics with classic tones. Everything is enlivened by joyful explosions of bubble gum pink and fire red.

A play of BMX-style details, knurling and stitching create a geometric sportiness softened by organic cotton and linen fabrics. The Summer 2021 collection also features a range of bodycon suits, safari jackets and motocross-inspired pants that aim to combine an athletic style with a more sculptural one. Tight-fitting dresses, cycling shorts and tight-fitting tops made with lace from past collections combine sensuality, sportiness and sustainability.

Stella McCartney’s traditional British tailoring includes timeless pieces inspired by menswear in khaki and black, made with traceable wool and natural linen which, to add a touch of femininity, are worn over Stellawear pieces: an innovative collection that blends lingerie and swimwear, made from sustainable Aquafil Econyl® regenerated nylon. Playing with shapes, a narrow three-button jacket is combined with voluminous trousers while a short and oversized outerwear is combined with high-waisted men’s trousers.

This season, 78% of the cotton used is organic and includes all denim and jersey, including Stella McCartney’s iconic tracksuits, enlivened by a hand-made dip dye dye.

Lylo flip flops feature an exaggerated sole made from 50% recycled materials. The Daisy sandal also finds its debut in the collection, made distinctive by its vegan and cruelty-free upper and embellished with golden studs, features a sturdy heel made of sustainably sourced wood. In addition, the iconic Emilie boot is reinvented as a sandal. The vegan and cruelty-free bags from Stella McCartney’s Summer 2021 collection are offered in seasonal shades of powder blue, yellow and sage green and crafted from coastal raffia, including the iconic Falabella presented as a beach bag.
