AROMATIC FLORA SANTA LUCE AND THE VALLEYS OF PERFUMES

A cultivation project for the experimentation of a model for valorising the territory
The project aims to contribute to the enhancement of the Valleys of the Pisan Hills of Santa Luce and the neighboring municipalities, for a sustainable local development (economic, environmental, social and cultural) based on:

  • The conversion of the agricultural area, currently mainly dedicated to the conventional cultivation of wheat, into aromatic officinal crops prized with organic and biodynamic methods.
  • The creation and organization of a new production chain of medicinal herbs, for their transformation by steam distillation into 100% pure essential oils of value. In this way, primary local producers will be included in the supply chain, strengthening the competitiveness of local agriculture and increasing the profitability of agricultural businesses.
  • An integrated economic development in the Valli dei Profumi that, enhancing the identity of the territory and its landscape values, allows a connection between rurality, typical products and tourism development, through the promotion of the territory, the marketing and the use of cosmetic products for the direct sales, also within accommodation facilities and the production of wellness-related services.
  • The agricultural raw material will be transformed by steam distillation into 100% pure essential oils, to be used as supplements, food flavors, active ingredients in cosmetics, massage oils, hygiene products and perfumes for the person and the environment.
