Founded in 1976 with an original salon in Paris, Equipment continues to develop its dialogue – what started as a French shirting brand, now showed its sophomore season as a full ready‐to‐wear line. Set within a clean and minimal space, a range of 18 womenswear looks took center stage at the Fall 2019 collection presentation on Thursday, February 28th.
For Fall, European femininity continues to define the Equipment woman as she finds herself entrenched in New York City. The season’s narrative begins with rich colors similar to autumn leaves juxtaposed against the grey tones of an urban landscape, painting a palette that drives the assortment from day to night, Central Park to the Bowery. Animal prints, geometric shapes, plaids and pinstripes give an urban modernity, while luxe new jacquards, tweeds, twills, and satins elevate solid fabrics with a true Parisian sense of ease.
With Equipment’s iconic 2‐pocket shirts setting the tone with their signature masculinity and tailoring; chic shirtdresses and refined sheaths with pleat and scarf details effortlessly inject a soft sensuality. Longer lengths and higher hemlines speak a subtle 70s vernacular, while an omnipresent undercurrent of military detailing gives a gritty edge.
Suiting gets sharper and outerwear is elevated for Fall, with a focus on both noble fabrications and new silhouettes. The tailored suit slims down this season, paired back to our low‐rise trousers as well as ultra high‐waisted carrot‐cut pants. Outerwear speaks to new silhouettes; ranging from a sharp Crombie coat executed in double face wool; to a relaxed hunting coat in tweed with contrast leather detailing.
The Equipment woman is a woman of purpose.
