Portrayed in video form, the focus of the House’s creations for Christmas 2018 // for the 2018 holiday season is an ornamental motif adored by Christian Dior: toile de Jouy. As early as 1947, this great French classic originating in the 18th century, the couturier’s beloved era, upholstered the interior of his “Colifichets” boutique, realized in conjunction with the decorator Victor Grandpierre following the advice of the artist Christian Berard. Its reinterpretation by Maria Grazia Chiuri for the cruise 2019 collection sees it enriched with a series of wild animals. Surrounded by lush vegetation, creatures including deer, monkeys, snakes and lions populate the surface of the Lady Dior, Dior Book Tote and Saddle bags, along with a number of accessories. Also featured are two Baby Dior stuffed toys and Dior Maison items (plates, cushions, sundries trays, etc.) designed by Cordelia de Castellane. In addition, precious jewels, including the essential Dior Tnbales asymmetrical earrings, are revealed in several poetic scenes.
