5 things to know about Prada ss17 location

The set for the Prada Women’s Spring/Summer 2017 show was conceived by AMO as layers of diverse architectures. The new space is built over the remnants of the previous season which serve as both a foundation, and visible background, for the current scenography.

The central space has been cleared to accommodate a linear structure that divides the room and amplifies its proportions. A straight ramp elevated above the floor serves as the catwalk and risers are arranged along the perimeter accommodate the guests.

All the elements of the set are shroud in an expanded-metal layer forming an abstract configuration of overlapping mesh. The underlying framework remains visible through the cladding and is revealed with Cartesian precision. Lights filter through the mesh creating a pale glow.

The center axis of the space contains a 12-screen film installation by the director David O. Russell and the New York design studio 2×4. Russell imagined the installation as a surreal dreamscape with an eclectic cast replaying scenes in shifting combinations. The content is derived from the soon-to-be released short film Past Forward, a collaboration between Russell and Miuccia Prada. Critically acclaimed for his award winning cinema working with ensembles of actors in films such as The Fighter, American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook, Russell conceived of Past Forward as a complex experiment in cinematic

form intended for display in multiple environments: gallery installation, cinema, social media, and online.

L’allestimento per la sfilata Prada Donna Primavera/Estate 2017 è stato progettato da AMO come una stratificazione di diverse architetture. Il nuovo spazio è costruito sui residui della precedente stagione che fungono da fondamenta e da sfondo ben visibile per la nuova scenografia.

Lo spazio centrale è stato riorganizzato per accogliere una struttura lineare che divide la sala e ne amplifica le proporzioni. Una rampa dritta, sopraelevata rispetto al pavimento, funge da passerella; mentre le gradinate sono disposte lungo il perimetro per accogliere gli ospiti.

Tutti gli elementi della scenografia sono avvolti da una superficie in metallo espanso che genera uno strato di natura astratta composto da reticolati sovrapposti. La struttura sottostante rimane visibile attraverso il rivestimento e si rivela con precisione cartesiana. La luce filtra attraverso la rete creando un bagliore fioco.

L’asse centrale dello spazio contiene un’installazione cinematografica su dodici schermi ideata dal regista David O. Russell e dallo studio newyorchese di design 2×4. Russell ha immaginato l’installazione come un surreale paesaggio onirico con un cast eclettico che reinterpreta le scene in combinazioni mutevoli. Sono frammenti tratti dal cortometraggio di prossima uscita Past Forward, una collaborazione tra il cineasta e Miuccia Prada. Acclamato dalla critica per il suo pluripremiato lavoro che ha riunito insiemi variegati di attori in film quali The Fighter, American Hustle – L’apparenza inganna, Il lato positivo, Russell ha concepito Past Forward come un complesso esperimento in forma cinematografica destinato alla visione in molteplici ambienti: installazione in gallerie, cinema, social media e online.
