Sandy Liang’s clothes for Mercedes Benz “Fashion Creativities”

Mercedes-Benz presents the new episode of Fashion Creatives, Midnight in Stuttgard whose protagonists are the extraordinary dancers of Hiplet ™ Chicago Multicultural Dance Center. Homer Bryant is founder and choreographer of the center and creator of Hiplet ™ dance. Bryant, a former first dancer of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, counts among his pupils also Malia and Sasha Obama.

To strengthen further the bond of Mercedes-Benz Fashion with emerging creative talents, this humorous film depicts the clothes of the New York designer Sandy Liang. Student of the Parsons New School, Sandy caught immediately the attention of the fashion elite, counting the model Soo Joo Park and the buyer and stylist Kate Foley among the first supporters of his New York style. The dummies and the dancers in the film wear pieces from the previous collections of Sandy with a focus on its line in 2016. Sandy Resort will present its Spring / Summer 2017 New York Fashion Week, Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016.

The quirky short film directed by award-winning director of Los Angeles Ace Norton, tells a night at the museum where the world of dance and fashion collide inside of Futurist architecture of the Mercedes-Benz Museum. At nightfall, the security guard closes the showroom which houses antique cars and futuristic conceptual prototypes. After making sure that everything is in place, back to his desk. Surrounded by the security monitor, you fall asleep, and the mannequins come to life by performing the steps of Hiplet ™ dance, with Homer Bryant choreography.

The sequence opens with a solo Carmryn Hutchinson, who begins to explore the most remote corners of the museum, as the dance takes hold. Meet Devin Buchanan dancer, and during their romantic duet other mannequins come to life, going gradually to create a dance troupe with which she ends up joining. The dancers are increasingly in tune, but the security guard suddenly wakes up and sees on the safety monitor them. Rushes immediately on the spot, but the dancers are back to their static form.

Per rafforzare sempre di più il legame di Mercedes-Benz Fashion con i talenti creativi emergenti, questo film pieno di humour mette in scena gli abiti della designer newyorkese Sandy Liang. Allieva della Parsons New School, Sandy ha catturato fin da subito l’attenzione dell’élite della moda, annoverando la modella Soo Joo Park e la buyer e stilista Kate Foley fra le prime sostenitrici del suo stile newyorchese. I manichini e i ballerini del film indossano capi delle collezioni precedenti di Sandy con un focus sulla sua linea Resort 2016. Sandy presenterà la sua collezione Primavera/Estate 2017 alla New York Fashion Week, domenica 11 settembre 2016.

L’eccentrico cortometraggio, diretto dal pluripremiato regista di Los Angeles Ace Norton, racconta una notte al museo in cui il mondo della danza e della moda entrano in collisione all’interno dell’architettura futurista del Museo Mercedes-Benz. Al calar della notte, la guardia di sicurezza chiude lo showroom che ospita automobili d’epoca e prototipi concettuali futuristi. Dopo essersi assicurato che ogni cosa sia al suo posto, torna alla sua scrivania.  Circondato dai monitor di sicurezza, si addormenta, e i manichini prendono vita eseguendo i passi di danza Hiplet™, con la coreografia di Homer Bryant.

La sequenza si apre con un assolo di Carmryn Hutchinson, che inizia a esplorare gli angoli più reconditi del museo, man mano che la danza prende piede. Incontra il ballerino Devin Buchanan, e durante il loro duetto romantico gli altri manichini prendono vita, andando via via a creare un corpo di ballo con cui lei finisce per unirsi. I ballerini sono sempre più in sintonia, ma la guardia di sicurezza si sveglia improvvisamente e li vede sul monitor di sicurezza. Accorre immediatamente sul posto, ma i ballerini sono tornati alla loro forma statica.
