Marni and Ekta Collection    

Marni reinterpreta i disegni dell’artista svedese Ekta nella collezione uomo Autunno/Inverno 2016 e donna Prefall 2016.

Protagonisti assoluti della collaborazione i volti stilizzati di Ekta proposti su t-shirt, camicie, felpe e borse in cui vengono esplorate diverse combinazioni di cromie, materiali e segni grafici.

La linea dedicata alla donna si definisce attraverso la presenza dei pois sugli sfondi che accendono di colore le t-shirt, la camicia in cotone a fondo bianco e le shopping bag in PVC stampato, mentre sulle felpe i patchwork definscono i volti donando loro profondità.

Le maglie in jersey per l’uomo alternano grafiche stampate a lavorazioni in applicazione ton sur ton nelle tinte unite del blu, del grigio e del bianco.

Un progetto che nasce dalla passione comune di Marni ed Ekta per la sperimentazione e dalla continua ricerca di soluzioni grafiche e stilistiche inedite.

– About Ekta

Ekta (Falkenberg, 1978), anche conosciuto come Daniel Götesson, vive e lavora a Gothenburg. In precedenza ha vissuto a Londra, dove si è laureato illustratore al London College of Communication. I suoi giganteschi murales caratterizzati dall’utilizzo di una palette di colori intensi sono sparsi per tutta Europa. Le sue illustrazioni sono state pubblicate da prestigiose riviste internazionali come il New York Times. I suoi lavori sono stati esposti in numerose gallerie d’arte e musei in Europa e negli Stati Uniti.

Marni reinterprets the drawings of Swedish artist Ekta for the Men’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection and Women’s Prefall 2016.

The stylized faces sketched by Ekta are the key elements, which stand out on t-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts and bags, exploring different combinations of colors, materials and graphic signs.

The female pieces are defined by the presence of polka dots, which enlighten the backgrounds of the t-shirts as well as the white cotton shirts and the PVC shopping bags, while the patchworks delineate the silhouettes of the faces on the sweatshirts.

The male t-shirts made of jersey alternate placed prints to solid tonal trimmings proposed in blue, grey and white.

This project finds its origin in the passion of Marni and Ekta for experimentation and their continuous search for innovative graphic and stylistic resolutions.

– About Ekta

Ekta (Falkenberg, 1978), also known as Daniel Götesson, currently lives and works in Gothenburg. He previously lived in London where he earned a degree in illustration at the London College of Communication. Ekta’s large-scale mural paintings in his trademark bold colour palette can be found all over Europe and his editorial illustrations are published by various magazines worldwide, like the New York Times. Ekta has shown his work extensively in galleries and art spaces all over Europe and the US.
