Per la primavera/estate ’17 Paul Smith promuove un messaggio di pace e positività espresso tramite un uso ottimistico di colori e stampe.

Paul Smith fece il suo primo viaggio da Nottingham a Londra negli anni 60′ quando ancora era un teenager. Alloggiando a casa di un amico a Notting Hill. Contemporaneamente, nel 1966 faceva il suo esordio il primo carnevale di Notting Hill. Paul Smith dopo la sua esperienza degli anni 70 definisce la parte ovest di londra “casa”, il dopo e l’ora, si incontrano in questa collezione come passato e presente supportandosi a vicenda.

I riferimenti alle linee sartoriali del 1960 prendono forma e acquisiscono quel tocco di modernità grazie a strutture leggere e alla pregiata lana traspirabile italiana, che rende gli abiti classici ed eleganti indossabili con facilità. Nelfrattempo, delle linee contemporane che traggono ispirazione dal mondo dello sport prendono vita e si fondono nella collezione rispecchiando la realtà multiculturale londinese nel 2016.

L’utilizzo con confidenza del colore è un marchio di fabbrica Paul Smith, ed in tempi oscuri come i tempi odiermi, questo ottimismo è utilizzato dal designer per sollevare i morali. Questo calore occidentale sgorga in combinazioni di colori che vanno dal giallo, verde al rosso e si fondono creando un trama a righe multicolor,– un’altro caposaldo per Paul Smith– all’inteno della collezione si intravede, oltre alla multiriga una nuova fantasia, il tartan tropicale.

Questo calore tropicale è stato volutamente trasmesso trasformando la passerella in un percorso di colori che si fondono dando vita alla trama multiriga.

Finalmente, una grafica sfacciata caratterizza la collezione ’17 e offre la speranza che il 2017 sarà più luminoso felice e pacifico dell’anno precedente.

For spring/summer ’17 Paul Smith promotes a message of peace and positivity expressed through an optimistic use of colour and print.

Paul made his rst trips from Nottingham to London as a teenager in the ‘60s, crashing on a friend’s oor in Notting Hill before heading out to explore the city. Simultaneously, the rst Notting Hill Carnival kicked off in 1966. Having called West London his “home” since the ‘70s Paul’s experiences, then and now, feed into this collection as past and present brush up against each other.

1960s tailoring references are brought up to date with super lightweight construction and highly breathable Italian wool fabrics, which make the dressed up, Sunday best styling effortlessly wearable. Meanwhile, a contemporary edge comes from sportswear shapes and diverse casting that mirrors the multicultural reality of London in 2016.

Con dent use of colour is a Paul Smith trademark and in fairly gloomy times these optimistic bursts of brightness are designed to lift the collective mood. West Indian warmth ows from familiar colour combinations of yellow, green and red, which come together to create a series of stripes – another Paul Smith mainstay – and a tropical tartan fabric that appears throughout the collection. This same hot Caribbean colour spills over onto the runway itself, which has been transformed into one long, unbroken stripe.

Finally, a bold ‘17’ graphic dates the collection and offers the hope that 2017 will be brighter, happier and more peaceful than the year that preceded it.
