Protagonist FW 2016
Protagonist showed their Fall/Winter 2016 Collection on Wednesday, February 10th at The Apartment by The Line – New York.
Collection No. 7 expands the scope of Protagonist while remaining true to signature subtleties of form, fit, and fabrication.
The merging of life and work epitomized by the artist’s studio inspired a focus on pieces that embody both character and practice, sensuality and functionality. Uniting the democratic ideals of classic American sportswear with sculptural volumes informed by vintage couture, the silhouettes represent an evolution from lean, masculine proportions to eased shapes that highlight the waist, infusing workwear-inspired details with a new playfulness.
The collection’s nuanced neutral palette is reflected in exquisite tailoring fabrics, including crisp white piqué, heathered grey cashmere, and a bolder take on classic pinstriped suiting, as well as richly textured coating fabrics, lustrous satins, and double-faced canvas.
Accents take the form of rich reds and blues that emerge in fluid crepes, liquid jerseys, and an abstract print that evokes the expressive act of making one’s mark.
Collection No. 7 marks design director Georgia Lazzaro’s first season with the brand.
