Saint Laurent at the Palladium    

La rivoluzione era iniziata qualche sfilata fa ma ora è in piena effettività, Saint Laurent e Hedi Slimane “divide et impera”, il menswear sfila insieme al womenswear sulla stessa passerella e la sfilata viene divisa in due parti…lato A e lato B come quelli di un disco in vinile.

È di scena il lato A che sale sul palco (per l’occasione trasformato in passerella) del Palladium di Los Angeles, un tributo di Hedi alla città che da qualche anno è la sua casa e il suo studio, un tributo quindi alla musica di L.A. e al mondo del rock in generale.

Luci che squarciano il buio della sala e 1,2,3…let’s go!

Una tavolozza volutamente scarna che si impernia e si macchia di 3 colori base: oro, rosso, nero. Il mood è anni ’70 ed è prendere o lasciare, come sempre con Hedi, la musica è il sipario e il fondale di questa/e collezioni che giocano su due estremi…corto e lungo, stretto e comodo, giacche strettissime o cappotti al polpaccio…frange lunghissime e pantaloni cortissimi e tanta tanta pelle dai giubbotti alle gonne pantalone.

Il lato A ci è piaciuto e abbiamo tenuto il tempo battendo il piede…aspettiamo il lato B che andrà in scena a Parigi durante la prossima fashion week donna.

Un after-party che ha il sapore di festival con Father John Misty, Beck, Joan Jett, Allah-las, the Sloths, Cherry Glazerr, Curtis Harding, No Parents, Bleached, Kim and the Created, Mystic Braves.

Saint Laurent at the Palladium is the second project Hedi  has curated in L.A.  the first being his Moca contemporary photography show in nov. 2011.

The Saint Laurent Palladium  after party line up is : Father John Misty, Beck, Joan Jett, Allah-las, the Sloths, Cherry Glazerr, Curtis Harding, No Parents, Bleached, Kim and the Created, Mystic Braves.

The Saint Laurent Palladium  show is mostly unisex. Hedi  went back to his signature style pieces and principles. He pioneered the androgynous male look in the late 90s, beginning with a razor sharp silhouette at YSL.

Hedi  revisited his 90s signature codes and proportions. Feminin silk bows, gold or metallic glam boots, tapestry jackets, and men’s fedoras.

All embroideries are couture and made entirely by hand

Hedi  is consolidating his reputable silhouette with hints of his glam fall 2005 collection. With the psych rock collection he pioneered at Saint Laurent in july 2013.

Besides imperial themed tapestry, Hedi  went back to his military officer iconic pieces.

Hedi  marked the 50th anniversary of the rive gauche by reusing historic rive gauche prints, such as the 82 musical note print.
