Qual è stata la prima foto che ti hanno scattato?

Francamente non me lo ricordo! Ho iniziato a fare la modella da piccolissima ma la prima foto che ricordo dope aver fatto una pausa dal fare la modella fu scattata dal mio agente Yannis.

Le tue impressioni dopo il primo photo shoot.

Come dicevo prima ho iniziato a fare la modella per brand di abbigliamento per bambini, avevo circa 3 anni, poi ho smesso dai 10 fino ai 14 anni circa perchè sono cresciuta in maniera super veloce…non sono più cresciuta sin da quando avevo 13 anni.  Così il primo shooting non è stato così speciale per me rispetto a ragazze che non avevano esperienze da modella. Quando ho ricominciato a lavorare è stata la prima volta in cui ero una modella che interpretava un outfit da giovane donna e non più moda per bambini e questo era una novità per me.

Cosa hai imparato dal tuo lavoro?

Di sicuro ho migliorato molto il mio inglese e sono diventata più sicura di me col passare degli anni. Ho imparato come gestire le cose da sola…prima ero super timida e avevo paura persino di parlare al telefono con qualcuno che non conoscevo…a spostarmi in una nuova città e prenotare un volo ed essere soprattutto responsabile per me stessa si da quando ero giovanissima. Infine ho capito come restare un p’ distante dalle cose e che la cosa più importante e essere felici di se stessi!

Qual è la cosa che ti piace di più e quella che ti piace di meno del fare la modella?

La cosa migliore sono le opportunità che si hanno…viaggiare e incontrare sempre persone diverse…oppure rincontrare amici con cui hai già lavorato precedentemente.

Dove sei stata grazie al tuo lavoro, qual è la città che preferisci?

Sono stata a Londra, Milano, Parigi, Barcellona e Atene in Europa. I miei viaggi più lontano sono stati nella Repubblica Domenicana e alle Maldive che mi hanno colpito per la loro natura e per i paesaggi e il lavoro lì era quasi più come una vacanza. La mia città preferita è Londra, mi è rimasta nel cuore anche perché era il primo viaggio con la mia amica nelle nostre carriere di modelle…sempre insieme a esplorare la città.

La cosa più strana e quella più divertente che ti è accaduta su un set?

A dire il vero non è proprio qualcosa che è accaduto su un set…una volta abbiamo realizzato un servizio in una bellissima casa privata, era un loft in cui il bagno era piazzato in centro all’enorme spazio e non c’erano pareti ma solo una tenda della doccia per avere un po’ di privacy…ovviamente nessuno del team ha usato il bagno quel giorno :-).

Il lavoro di modella ha anche un sacco di tempi morti…aspettare per il trucco…ai casting…come impieghi il tuo tempo in attesa?

La maggior parte delle volte mi guardo intorno e osservo le persone che lavorano oppure mi lascio andare ai miei pensieri. A volte leggo i libri per i miei studi e ho comprato un bloc notes da colorare per rilassarmi un po’.

Che rapporto hai con la moda? Hai un tuo stile o ti piace sperimentare con i colori e con stili diversi?

Difficile rispondere…quando studio non mi sento tanto di mettermi in tiro così vado di tshirt+jeans+sneakers…ma mi piace anche vestirmi in modo elegante e fashion. Un po’ seguo i trend ma non sono certo quella che conosce l’ultimissima collezione del designer XY o che passa tutto il suo tempo sui fashion blog.

Che ne pensi dei social media? Non ne puoi fare a meno oppure ogni tanto preferiresti stare off-line?

Oggi sono molto importanti e questo mi rende un pochettino triste…vedi solo quello che le persone vogliono farti vedere e tutti si aspettano che tu viva una vita perfetta. Mi sono iscritta a Instagram durante un viaggio e tutti erano tipo “mamma mia sei la prima modella che non ha Instagram…è importantissimo, i clienti guardano sempre il tuo instagram prima di assumerti!”. Così ho pensato che forse dovevo vederlo più come una parte del mio lavoro e ho creato il mio account.

Progetti per il futuro? Qual è il tuo prossimo lavoro dei sogni?

Per prima cosa voglio finire i miei studi di Geografia e Urbanistica e poi caso mai fare la modella a tempo pieno dopo la laurea. Il mio prossimo lavoro è uno stage al Dipartimento di conservazione dei monumenti nella mia città.

Which was the first picture that someone took of you?

I really don’t remember! I started modelling when I was a child, but the first picture after  I had a break from modelling, was taken by my agent Yannis.

Your impression about the first picture, first photo shoot.

As I said before I already did modelling for children’s stuff. I started when I was nearly three years old. I had a break from age ten to nearly fourteen because I grew super fast (I did not grow anymore since I am 13). So the first shooting was not so special for me than it might be for girls who have no experience at all. However my last shooting was about three years ago and the first shooting after the break I was seen as a young woman and not a child which was new to me.

What have you learned from working as a model?

I definitely improved my English and I became more self-confident over the years. I learned how to handle things by myself – I was super shy and did not even like to speak to strangers on the phone – I learned how to get from A to B in new cities, how to book a flight and be responsible for myself at a young age. Furthermore I learned to not get everything too close to you and that the most important thing is to be happy with yourself!

What is the thing you like the most and the least about modeling?

The best thing is of course the opportunities you get, like travelling and  meeting totally different personalities. Thereby you can meet your very best friends or you are just happy to work with nice people you have already worked with.

Where have you traveled with modeling? What has been your favorite city to visit?

I travelled to the usual places in Europe like London, Milan, Paris, Barcelona and Athens. The biggest trips were the Dominican Republic and the Maldives. The Maldives impressed me most because of the nature. The job was almost more like holiday. Besides my favourite city is London. There I met so many cool and inspiring people and worked a lot. It also was the first long trip for my best friend and me in our modelling career. So we experienced everything together; same joy, same fears!

The weirdest or funniest thing that happened on a set?

It is actually not a thing that happened but I once had a shooting in a private place of a goldsmith. It was a loft including living and working. The toilet was more or less in the middle of the room, encircled by a shower curtain. You can imagine that everyone of the team tried to avoid to go to the toilet.

Modeling is also about waiting – waiting for you make up, hair done…. how do you spend your “waiting time” ?

Most of the time I am just looking around and watch the other people or let my thoughts go. Sometimes I read texts for my studies and I just bought a colouring block to relax.

What is your relationship with fashion? Do you have your own style, do you like to play with clothes and colors?

That is hard to answer. When I study I do not feel like I have to dress up and basically wear a white tshirt, jeans and sneakers. Though I also like to wear fashionable clothes and unique pieces. All in all I do follow trends and get inspiration but I am not the one who can tell you everything about the new collection of designer XY and I am not visiting fashion blogs every free minute..

Your relationship with social media, photos, “Instagram”..? You cannot live without it or sometimes you prefer to be “offline”?

It is very important nowadays which makes me a little sad. You just see what people want you to see and everyone expects that you live the perfect life. I started instagram when I was on a trip and the whole team was like “oh my god you are the first model that does not have instagram, it is so important, clients always look at your instagram!” And so I thought I should maybe start and now see it as a part of the job.

What are you excited about doing next? What is your next dream job?

First of all I want to finish my geography and urban planning studies and maybe do modelling as a full-time job afterwards. The next  thing to do is an internship at the monument conservation department of my hometown the next months.
