Cosa ti aspetti dal tuo lavoro di modella? Cosa ti affascina di più?

Mi piace un sacco viaggiare e incontrare nuove persone interessanti in giro per il mondo. Da quando faccio la modella infatti ho avuto l’opportunità di vedere posti e luoghi che non avevo mai visto.

Qual è stata la prima foto che ti hanno scattato? Le tue impressioni dopo la prima foto e il primo photo shoot?

La prima foto me l’ha scattata Yannis Nikolaou della mia agenzia, mi fece diverse polaroid e ci divertimmo un sacco. Poi le mie foto professionali per il book e fui molto sorpresa da come potevo apparire diverse nelle foto e mi è piaciuto tantissimo!

Cosa hai imparato lavorando come modella?

Che hai bisogno di molta disciplina e pazienza, la maggior parte delle volte aspetti il tuo turno e quando è il tuo momento di lavorare devi essere brava a dare subito le pose giuste. Un’altra cosa fondamentale che ho imparato nella mia agenzia è che se sei carino con le persone con cui lavori anche loro lo saranno con te!

Qual è la modella che ti ha ispirato di più e fra quelle di oggi qual è quella che ti piace di più e perchè?

Mi piacciono tutte le modelle curvy, perchè aiutano a creare un nuovo idea di bellezza e mostrano un’altro lato della femminilità e che questo è più bello che essere skinny!

Qual è la cosa che ti piace di più e quella che ti piace di meno del tuo lavoro?

Mi piace un sacco il momento hair e make up! Mi piace quando i pennelli mi massaggiano il viso e quando mi fanno i capelli. Il risultato della trasformazione mi stupisce ogni volta. Quello che non mi piace sono a volte le levatacce che dobbiamo fare per un editoriale ah ah!

Dove sei andata grazie al tuo lavoro e qual è la tua città preferita?

Ho visitato un sacco di città della Germania (essendo tedesca) e poi sono stata in Inghilterra, Italia, Francia, Svezia, Stati Uniti e Africa. Mi piace esplorare nuovi posti e nuove culture. La mia città preferita è in assoluto Cape Town…ci sono mille colori e tantissimi paesaggi differenti e c’è sempre il sole!

La cosa più strana e quella più divertente che ti è accaduta su un set?

Una volta un cane si intrufolò nello studio in qualche modo…alla fine ci abbiamo fatto amicizia e l’abbiamo incluso nello shooting…è diventato il mio compagno di lavoro per quel giorno.

Fare la modella comporta anche un sacco di tempi morti…per il make up…ai casting…come impieghi il tuo tempo?

Quando devo aspettare mi siedo in un angolino e mi metto a guardare tutte le persone che corrono da una parte all’altra facendo il loro lavoro, guardo come si comportano e così quando arriva il mio turno so già cosa devo fare e li aiuto a rilassarsi un po’.

Che rapporto hai con la moda? Hai un tuo stile o ti piace sperimentare?

Mi diverte sempre creare e giocare con stili diversi e con i colori. Ogni giorno mi piace essere me ma in modo leggermente diverso…amo tutti i possibili outfit e trend!

Che ne pensi dei social media? Non ne puoi fare a meno o a volte vorresti restare off-line?

Siccome amo essere d’ispirazione per le altre ragazze curvy cerco sempre di postare regolarmente e mantenermi in contatto con tutti…ma a volte piace anche stare un po’ off-line.

Progetti per il futuro? Qual è il tuo prossimo lavoro dei sogni?

Sono davvero felice e grata ogni giorno per essere una modella curvy e mi piacciono sempre i lavori che ho l’opportunità di fare.

Come vedi il tuo ruolo di modella e la tua immagine che si distacca dalle regole del mondo della moda di massa?

Penso che oggi essere una modella curvy è molto più accettato nel mondo della moda rispetto ad esempio a un paio di anni fa. Così devo ammettere che non è così difficile essere “differente” nel fashion world quando per esempio anche alla fashion week di Berlino alcuni designer fanno sfilare in passerella anche modelle curvy!

Qual è il tuo consiglio alle ragazze che magari si vergognano o hanno difficoltà ad accettarsi e cercano a tutti i costi di conformarsi a un ideale di donna preconfezionato?

Il mio consiglio per tutti è: conosciti a fondo e conosci il tuo corpo. Trattalo bene e se il tuo corpo in salute ha delle curve, accettale e amale perchè semplicemente sono belle! Le donne reali hanno curve e ogni curva va bene sia che sia piccola o grande! Goditi la vita, ne hai una sola! Cerca il tuo stile fra i mille possibili, prova tutto, perchè mai come oggi ci sono stili adatti a tutti i tipi di corpi!

What do you expect working as model ? What fascinates you the most ?

I love the traveling and meeting new and interesting people all over the world. Since I do the modeling I get so many chances to see places and things I never had before.

Which was the first picture that someone took of you? Your impression about the first picture, first photo shoot.

First time Yannis Nikolaou from Place models shot some polaroids of me,was a lot of fun.

And then first professional picture was taken during my first testshoot and I was very surprised about how different I can look. I loved it!

What have you learned from working as a model?

I learned that you need a lot of discipline and patience when you work as a model. Most of the time you wait for your turn and when it’s time to work you should give the right poses immediately. The most important thing I learned from my agency “PLACE Models” that all people are nice to you if you’re nice to them!

What was the model that inspired you the most and among the models of today who you like the most and why?

I love all the curvy models, that help to create a new ideal of beauty and show that diversity is more beautiful than being skinny!

What is the thing you like the most and the least about modeling?

I love the “Hair and Makeup Process”! I enjoy when the brushes massage my face and when my hair is done. The result of the transformation is always surprising. What I like least about modeling are the early calltimes, haha!

Where have you traveled with modeling? What has been your favorite city to visit?

As a German model I’ve seen many big cities of Germany but I also did travels to England, Italy, France, Sweden, the USA and Africa. I enjoy to explore the different countries and their cultures. My favorite city was Cape Town because of all the colors, the different landscapes and the sun!

The weirdest or funniest thing that happened on a set?

A dog from outside somehow made it in the studio and pranked the shooting. In the end we included him and he became my co-model.

Modeling is also about waiting – waiting for you make up, hair done…. how do you spend your “waiting time” ?

When I have to wait I sit in a quiet corner and watch all the people hurrying around and doing their jobs, how they behave and when it’s my turn I know what to do and help them to be more relaxed.

What is your relationship with fashion? Do you have your own style, do you like to play with clothes and colors?

I always tried different styles and colors. Everyday I create myself in a new way. I love the possibilities to vary many outfits and trends!

Your relationship with social media, photos, “Instagram”..? You cannot live without it or sometimes you prefer to be “offline”?

As I love to be an inspiration and motivation for other curvy girls out there, I try to be online regularly and keep the feed up to date. But I also enjoy some times when I’m offline 😉

What are you excited about doing next? What is your next dream job?

I’m very happy and grateful for every day I can be a curvy model and I appreciate every job I’m allowed to do!

How you live your role of image “different” compared to the rules of the image of the current fashion?

I think these days beeing a curvy model is more accepted in the industry than two years ago. So it’s not hard to be “different” in fashion, when even the designers at the Berlin Fashionweek show their collection on curvy girls!

What is your advice to girls who often are ashamed or do not accept and seek the ideal woman prepackaged?

My advice for everybody is: Get to know yourself and your body. Treat your body well and if your healthy body shows some curves, accept them and love them because they’re beautiful! Real women have curves, and every curve is fine weather big or small! Enjoy your life, you only have one! Be conscious of the different styles in fashion, try everything, because these days it’s possible for all body shapes to live and love different styles!
