Qual è stata la prima foto che ti hanno scattato? Le tue impressioni dopo il primo photo shoot?

È stato il mio agente di oggi (Yannis Nikolaou) che mi ha scoperta ed è stato anche lui che mi ha fatto le prime polaroid quando sono andata per la prima volta in agenzia. All’inizio era una cosa totalmente nuova, non sapevo cosa fare e mi sentivo un po’ insicura ma allo stesso tempo mi sono divertita. Il mio primo photo shoot fu per un servizio di beauty e quello che mi colpì fu come tanti piccoli gesti e cambi di espressione nel mio volto cambiasse cosi tanto il risultato della foto. Facendo la modella ho sviluppato sentimenti differenti sulla mia mimica e nel rapporto con il mio corpo.

Cosa ha imparato facendo la modella?

Ho imparato un sacco di cose! La prima cosa è stata imparare a viaggiare da sola, era per me una cosa totalmente nuova e non è stato facile all’inizio. Poi ho imparato ad avere a che fare con tutti i tipi di persone, sia sul lavoro che nella vita di tutti i giorni e in paesi stranieri. Camminare con i tacchi alti e come vivere con altre 8 modelle in una casa con soli 2 bagni. Ho imparato soprattuto a vivere il momento, non progettare o programmare troppo il futuro, perchè le cose cambiano sempre ed è difficile fare previsioni nel mondo della moda e delle modelle.

Qual è la cosa che ti piace di più e quella che ti piace di meno del tuo lavoro.

La cosa che amo di più è conoscere persone da tutto il mondo! È divertente incontrare persone nuove ma anche incontrare volti familiari con cui hai già lavorato. Quello che non mi piace è lavorare a collezioni estive in pieno inverno! Un editoriale che non dimenticherò mai è quello fatto a Central Park NY a fine novembre indossando vestiti estivi…c’era un freddo della malore e non mi sono divertita per niente :-(.

Dove sei stata grazie al tuo lavoro? Qual è la città che preferisci?

Difficile dire qual è il posto che preferisco…mi è piaciuto tantissimo lavorare in India. Abbiamo viaggiato su un vecchio pulmino per raggiungere diverse location ed era incredibile vedere quanto intensa e trafficata la vita cittadina può essere a volte. Ho amato i paesaggi dell’Islanda…da sogno e mi sono sentita così fortunata nell’essere così vicina alla natura.

La cosa più strana e divertente che ti è capitata su un set?

Una volta ho lavorato con un cagnolone bianco…in una foto era seduto accanto a me con gli occhiali da sole e doveva leccare il gelato che avevo in mano…all’inizio avevamo usato un gelato finto perchè veniva meglio in foto ma il cane non ne voleva sapere di leccarlo perchè non era molto buono…alla fine abbiamo usato del gelato vero e solo alla fine si è convinto a leccarlo…una situazione assurda.

Fare la modella ha anche un sacco di tempi morti…al make up…ai casting, cosa fai mentre aspetti?

Verissimo! C’è un sacco da aspettare!!! Di solito mi lascio trasportare dai pensieri e sogno ad occhi aperti…dopo un bel po’ inizio a guardare le altre persone sul set…

Che rapporto hai con la moda? Hai il tuo stile o ti piace giocare con i vestiti e i colori?

Prima di fare la modella non ero molto dentro alla moda…ma alla fine a forza di indossare abiti bellissimi sui set ho sviluppato un certo senso per le forme e i colori che mi aiutano molto a scegliere.

Che ne pensi dei social? Non ne puoi fare a meno o a volte preferiresti stare off-line?

Assolutamente off-line. Mi piace non essere connessa tutto il tempo, è rilassante. Forse sono un po’ all’antica in questo aspetto della mia vita.

Progetti per il futuro? Quale sarà il tuo prossimo lavoro dei sogni?

Diventerò una psicologa! Sto studiando per ora, forse potrò fare la modella e la psicologa allo stesso tempo. Di sicuro ho fatto un sacco di esperienze e so un sacco di cose sulle persone e fare la modella è di sicuro un campo molto interessante da analizzare ;-).

Which was the first picture that someone took of you? Your impression about the first picture, first photo shoot.

My booker Yannis Nikolaou  from Place Models scouted me and he was also the one who took the first polaroids of me during my first visit to the agency. It felt very new to me. I didn’t really know what to do and I felt a bit unsecure, but in the same time I enjoyed it. My first photo shoot was a beauty shoot, very natural with red lips. I was suprised how many little gestures and micro changes in my face expression can change a picture so much. Through modeling I developed a different feeling towards my mimics and my body.

What have you learned from working as a model?

I learned a lot of things from modeling! In the beginning I learned being fine travelling on my own. This was new to me and not easy in the beginning. Then I learned dealing with all kinds of people, on jobs and in daily life in foreign places. I learned to walk on High Heels (!) and how to live with 8 models in one apartment with 2 bathrooms. Also I learned to live more in the moment, and not think too far ahead, because things change anyway and are hard to predict in the modeling industry.

What is the thing you like the most and the least about modeling?

Most I like meeting people from all around the world! It’s fun to meet new people, but also seeing familiar faces again from previous occasions. What I don’t like is shooting summer collections in winter! I just remeber my probably coldest shoot in Cantral Park in NY in the end of November, wearing summer dresses all day long. This was crazy cold and not fun.

Where have you traveled with modeling? What has been your favorite city to visit?

Oh it’s hard to say which place I liked best… I really enjoyed shooting in India. We traveled with an old bus to different locations, and it was quite stunning how vivid and busy city life can be. I also loved the landscapes in Iceland.. Truly beautiful and I felt so greatful being so close to the nature.

The weirdest or funniest thing that happened on a set?

I once had a shoot with a big white poodle. On one picture, the poor dog had to sit on the couch next to me, with sunglasses on his face, and lick from my blue ice cream. First, we used some fake ice cream for a better look, which wasn’t really tasty unfortunately. So it didn’t work. Only with the real ice cream we could convince him doing it. That was a bit ridiculous.

Modeling is also about waiting – waiting for you make up, hair done…. how do you spend your “waiting time” ?

That’s true! There’s a lot of waiting involved!! I just let my thoughts go and drift away mentally, day-dream. If I did this for long enough, I start watching the people around me on the set..

What is your relationship with fashion? Do you have your own style, do you like to play with clothes and colors?

Before modelling, I wasn’t really interested in fashion.. But I guess, from wearing all the fancy clothes on shoots, I got a sense for shapes and colors, that I like to experience.

Your relationship with social media, photos, “Instagram”…? You cannot live without it or sometimes you prefer to be “offline”?

Definately offline. I enjoy it not being connected all the time, it’s relaxing. I guess I’m a bit old-fashioned, and not really keeping up with time in that aspect.

What are you excited about doing next? What is your next dream job?

Next I will become a psychologist! I’m already studying on the subject – maybe I can combine both at some point. It’s for sure helpful knowledge that I gain, and modeling is an inspiring field to analyze :-).
