Interview with the designer of Eloshi    

Quando e come hai deciso di diventare una designer?

Mi è sempre piaciuto disegnare fin da quando ero piccola ed era abbastanza brava. In quel periodo la mia sorellastra ha avuto una grande influenza su di me visto che studiava Fashion e Design.

Era il lavoro dei tuoi sogni?

Disegnavo e creavo praticamente da sempre…a dire il vero non riesco a ricordare quando divenne il mio sogno…forse è più giusto dire che è “adesso” il mio sogno, adesso perchè è ora che ho piena coscienza di quello che faccio e riesco ad apprezzare i feedback che ricevo sul mio lavoro.

La prima cosa che hai creato, per chi era?

La primissima creazione è stato un top per me.

Qual è il designer che ammiri di più e perchè?

Lanvin, e il suo ultimo designer Alber Elbaz, ha un appeal e un modo di disegnare che è molto elegante e femminile ed è molto vicino al mio sentire come designer.

Chi è la tua musa, la tua icona, quando crei un abito?

Non è mai la stessa persona, penso sempre a diversi tipi di donna e mi piace sperimentare sempre cose nuove…ma in fondo cerco sempre di immaginare me stessa nell’abito che ho davanti.

Se dovessi disegnare una intera collezione usando solo un colore, quale sceglieresti e perchè?

Probabilmente sceglierei il bianco, per me si associa a tutto quello che è positivo, pulito e mi da un grande senso di calma.

Chi è la prima persona a cui mostri i tuoi bozzetti?

Mio padre, è un architetto ed è sempre stato molto interessato ai miei lavori.

Il tessuto o il materiale che ami di più e perchè?

La seta perchè è morbida e comodissima, non amo i tessuti sintetici.

Se i tuo abiti avessero una colonna sonora, che canzoni sceglieresti?

Per i miei abiti di sicuro “Werewolf” di Cat Power.

Hai qualche trucco per evitare il momento “pagina bianca” di quando inizi a lavorare ad una nuova collezione?

Quando sono in cerca di ispirazione per prima cosa scelgo i materiali, poi inizio a pensare al carattere della donna, poi cerco forme e linee…l’ispirazione può venire da qualunque cosa…architettura, musica, arte in general…vecchi film, amo guardare film, specialmente quelli della vecchia scuola e i film di Almodovar.

Se non fossi una stilista quale altro lavoro del mondo della moda vorresti fare e perchè?

La fotografia! Quando sto guardando qualcosa cerco sempre di immaginarlo come se fosse una foto. Mi piace moltissimo questo campo, è bellissimo poter vedere il mondo attraverso i loro occhi e le loro foto, questo è il senso dell’arte per me! Una buona foto porta sempre grandi emozioni con se e si può creare qualcosa di molto toccante anche fotografando un oggetto inanimato ad esempio.

When and how you decided that you wanted to be a designer?

I had drawing skills since childhood, When I was thirteen our new family member my sister in law was studying on fashion design and it had very big influence on me.

It was your dream job?

I drew and created from the very young age, I don’t even remember when it became my dream, It is more like a dream now, when I realized what it really feels like, to see feedback  from what I do.

Which is the first thing you designed and for who (yourself,a friend…)?

First thing I designed was the top for myself.

Who is the designer you admire the most and why?

Lanvin (Alber Elbaz) is very feminine and posh and I think is very close to my type of woman. 

Who’s your muse, your icon, when you create a dress?

It is never the same person, I think of the different types of women, I love experiments, but I always imagine myself in the dress I create.

If you had to design an entire collection using just one color, which is the one you’d pick and why?

I think it would be white, for me white associates to everything positive, clean, and it makes me feel calm.

Who’s the first person you show your sketches to?

To my Father, he is architect and is always interested in my works.

The fabric you love the most…silk, lace, velvet and why?

Silk, is soft and comfortable, I don’t like faux fabrics.

If your clothes had a soundtrack, which songs you’d choose?

For my clothes I would choose as a soundtrack “werewolf” by Cat Power.

Do you have any trick to avoid that “blank page” moment when you’re at the beginning of the designing of a new collection? Do you watch a movie, flip an old magazine…

When I start seeking for the muse First of all I choose the fabrics, then I think of the character of the women, I look for forms and figures, Inspiring can become anything, architecture, music, arts, old school films- I really love watching films, especially old school  and movies by Pedro Almadovar.

If you weren’t a designer which job in the fashion world you would like to do and why?

Photography! When I am sightseeing or looking at something and I like it I always imagine them as a photo, I like this field and it seems to me interesting to show people, the world through your eyes, this is art for me. a good photo always brings big emotions. One can make something very touching from inanimate object.
