AVTANDIL SS 2016
The Fashion Rebel
From the early 80’s Berlin till today, street art has always been a powerful weapon for protest, a loud statement of disobedience.
Starting from Jean-Michel Basuqiat`s SAMO movement, including the mystery behind Benksy – urban art shaped as a voice of mass disagreement in modern era. Alongside with pop culture, street art started to influence fashion and Avtandil found the bravery and inspiration at the same time.
The collection of Spring/Summer 2016 is inspired by the phenomenon of urban art, the chaos created by mixing graffiti with strong statements, mixing colors and textures.
Using the paintings of Ward Schumaker as the main theme, the whole concept of the collection is all about prints and shapes. Oversized outwear, extraordinary cutting, deconstructing the silhouettes and prints inspired by grungy Berlin, Bauhaus architecture and the iconic subcultures of the last decades.
The whole collection is a powerful manifesto of an universal woman- a woman who is not afraid to carry the legacy of rebellious youth of the 90`s on her body.
