When and how you decided that you wanted to be a designer? 

Quando e come hai deciso che avresti fatto lo stilista?

Ho sempre saputo che gli abiti erano la mia passione. Ho studiato alla Taras Shevchenko Republic Art School, poi nel Fashion Institute of Design and Technology. All’inizio della mia carriera nella moda ho lavorato come stylist, poi ho imparato a cucire…e in seguito ho deciso di diventare uno stilista.

I have always known that clothes is my passion. I have studied at Taras Shevchenko Republic Art School, then in Fashion Institute of Design and Technology. At the beginning of my fashion career I have worked as a stylist, later I have started to sew… And that’s how I decided to become a fashion designer.

It was your dream job? Era il lavoro che sognavi?

Si, sto letteramente vivendo il mio sogno.

Yes, I am living my dream.

Which is the first thing you designed and for who (yourself, a friend…)? 

Qual’è stata la prima cosa che hai disegnato e per chi?

È stato un abito di maglia per un amica

It was a knitwear dress for my friend.

Who’s the designer you admire the most and why? Qual’è lo stilista che ami di più e perchè?

Io vado per la mia strada ma ci sono un ristretto numero di persone che mi ispirano, ad esempio Raf Simons.

I’m self-sufficient person, but I have a few people, who inspire me, for example Raf Simons.

Who’s your muse, your icon, when you create a dress? Qual’è la tua musa mentre disegni?

Non ho una vera e propria musa, ogni volta parto da un’IDEA.

I don’t have a muse, every time I start from IDEA.

If you had to design an entire collection using just one color, which is the one you’d pick and why? 

Se dovessi disegnare un’intera collezione scegliendo solo un colore, quale sarebbe e perchè?

Mi piacciono tutti i colori, ma se dovessi scegliere probabilmente sceglierei il rosso…perchè per me è il colore del vincitore.

I like all colors, but I would choose red. Because red is color of the winner.

Who’s the first person you show your sketches to? A chi mostri per primo i tuoi schizzi?

The fabric you love the most…silk, lace, velvet and why? 

Il tessuto o il materiale che ami di più?

Mi piacciono quasi tutti i materiali quindi non riuscirei a sceglierne uno. Mi piace sperimentare con diverse combinazioni di tessuti e materiali…la pelle e il cotone ad esempio.

I like all fabrics so I can’t choose one. I like to experiment with combination of fabrics – the leather and cotton and others.

If your clothes had a soundtrack, which songs you’d choose? Se i tuoi abiti avessero una colonna sonora che canzone sceglieresti?

Do you have any trick to avoid that “blank page” moment when you’re at the beginning of the designing of a new collection? Do you watch a movie, flip an old magazine… 

Hai un trucco per superare il momento della pagina bianca quando crei una collezione?

Se devo essere sincero non ho mai un momento da “pagina bianca”. Porto sempre con me un notes dove scrivo i miei pensieri e faccio qualche schizzo…così quando sono all’inizio del processo di creazione di una nuova collezione, semplicemente apro il mio notes e mi lascio guidare.

I don’t have a “blank page” moment. I have a notebook with me all the time, where I write my thoughts, draw some sketches… So when I’m at the beginning of the designing of a new collection, I just open my notebook and get inspired.

If you weren’t a designer which job in the fashion world you would like to do and why? 

Se non fossi uno stilista quale altro lavoro nel mondo della moda sceglieresti e perchè?

Mi piacerebbe dirigere uno spazio dedicato all’arte dove puoi comprare anche vestiti. Mi piace l’idea della combinazione di arte moderna e fashion.

I would like to work as director of art-space, where you can buy clothes. I like the idea of combination of modern art and clothes.
