Gagosian Gallery è lieta di presentare la prima mostra di Tatiana Trouvé a Roma.

Annunciata con un invito scritto di proprio pugno, la mostra di Tatiana Trouvé fa del tempo la sua materia prima: dal titolo che enumera i giorni di un secolo a situazioni scultoree che alludono agli stadi di una trasformazione costruttiva e decostruttiva.

In installazioni inquietanti e distopiche Trouvé delinea i confini tra il fisico e il mentale, dove tempo, spazio, forma e memoria convergono. Il suo lavoro associa scultura, architettura e disegno in contesti site-specific che combinano disegni scenografici, sculture—sia lineari che fusioni—e misteriose costruzioni. Trouvé dipinge e crea interni svuotati che riecheggiano situazioni e realtà già vissute. I “drammi ambientali” che ne risultano sono di una intensa malinconia, oscillanti tra il reale, l’immaginario e l’illusorio.

Il procedimento della Trouvé destabilizza un preciso progetto tecnico con l’accidentale, mescolando forme e spazi sia positivi che negativi. I Tempi Doppi, nuove sculture di rame e bronzo dipinto, descrivono curve come linee disegnate alle cui estremità appaiono due lampadine, una illuminata e l’altra spenta.Refoldings, realizzate in bronzo, cemento e cera da originali in cartone e altri materiali dismessi, assumono una compassionevole monumentalità. Elaborati disegni in grafite di grande formato, realizzati su fondi scuri sbiancati, suggeriscono interni alla deriva verso mondi incerti e indefiniti.

Tatiana Trouvé è nata a Cosenza, Italia, nel 1968, e vive e lavora a Parigi. Il lavoro di Trouvé è stato collezionato ed esposto da molti musei internazionali quali il Centre Georges Pompidou, Parigi; il Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Parigi; la Kunsthaus Graz, Austria; e il Kunstverein Hamburg, Germania. Gagosian Rome is pleased to present Tatiana Trouvé’s first exhibition in Rome.

Announced with a handwritten and stained letter, Trouvé’s exhibition makes time its primary material, from the title that evolves over the years and days of a century to sculptural situations alluding to states of constitutive and deconstitutive transformation.

In disquieting, dystopic sculptural installations, Trouvé limns the boundaries between the mental and physical where time, space, form, and memory converge. Her work merges sculpture, architecture, and drawing in site-specific situations that combine scenographic drawings, sculptures both linear and cast, and disquieting built spaces. Trouvé both depicts and creates eviscerated interiors that contain echoes of other lived spaces and realities. The resulting “environmental dramas” are melancholy yet highly charged, oscillating between the real, the imaginary and the phantasmic.

Trouvé’s process destabilizes precise engineering with elements of chance, mixing negative and positive forms and spaces. New sculptures made from copper and painted bronze curve and rise eccentrically into air, like drawn lines. They incorporate light bulbs at each end—one illuminated, the other darkened black.Refoldings cast from cardboard and other contingent materials in bronze, concrete, and wax assume an abject monumentality. Large-scale, intricately worked graphite drawings set against spectral grounds made using bleach suggest interior spaces adrift in ambiguous twilight worlds. Like mirages or memories, familiar objects and the spaces they inhabit are transformed into uncanny new meta-realities.
