Edun Resort 2016    

Per la collezione Edun Resort 2016 l’ispirazione prende vita da un Dandy Subsahariano. Questo gruppo di “Sapeurs”, questi uomini molto eleganti in Congo di solito indossano abiti tre pezzi colorati, cravatte in seta e scarpe impeccabili. Questo ha ispirato i rosa accesi, le stampe leopardate macchiate di inchiostro e dei classici tartan usati a contrasto.

Le silhouette questa stagione sono ispirate alla figura di Coco Chanel: giacche doppiopetto indossate su gonne plissé anni ’20. Questi stili sono contrapposti al look “Teddy Boy”: pantaloni affusolati, giacche lunghe e cappotti dal taglio sartoriale. Proprio come i Teddy Boy la collezione è personalizzata con borchie in metallo e altri dettagli di metalleria come cinture e anelli.

I materiali vanno dal classico gabardine, maglia, poplin al tartan in viscosa setosa.  Il motivo sulle giacche di pelle e sui vestiti è ispirato alla veste regale dei Yoruba, nella collezione è stato reinterpretato con borchie bianche e nere. Le calzature giocano sulle oxford con fascia diagonale e gli stivaletti stretti stile Camden.

“For Edun’s Resort 2016 Collection, we drew inspiration from the flamboyance of the Sub-Saharan dandy. This group of Sapeurs, well-dressed men from the Congo, wear brightly colored three piece suits, silk ties, and impeccable footwear. This has inspired the electric pinks, ink-splattered leopard print, and contrasting classic tartans seen in the collection.

The silhouettes this season are influenced by Coco Chanel herself, featuring double breasted peak lapelled boxy jackets worn over matching, 20’s inspired pleated skirts. These styles are juxtaposed with the Teddy Boys’ look – tapered trousers, long jackets, and tailored waistcoats. As these boys were known to do, we personalized our collection with metal studs, D rings, and other hardware elements. This is best seen in our classic cable knit sweaters with inserted D rings, blouses with cross body straps, and exaggerated belts hanging from our jackets and waistbands of our pants.

The fabrics in this collection range from a classic, lightweight wool gabardine, soft bonded lambskin to knit, crisp poplin shirting, to silky viscose tartans. The intertwining motif on the leather jacket and leather dress is inspired by West African Yoruba royal attire. This pattern has been re-interpreted in black and white studs. The footwear this season is a play on classic men’s U-tip monkstrap oxfords as well as a narrow Camden style boot.”
