Intervista a Luigi Citarrella

Luigi Citarrella è nato a Palermo nel 1981. Ha frequentato l’Istituto d’Arte e l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo.Fin da molto giovane, ha iniziato a lavorare nelle fonderie e nei laboratori di Mazara Del Vallo per imparare la tecnica ed il modellato.

Ha studiato con grandi maestri scultorei operanti nel territorio siciliano e grazie a queste esperienze si rende conto che saper utilizzare bene la tecnica non basta , cio’ che conta davvero sono le idee proposte e come riuscire a trasmetterle attraverso le sue opere.


Inizia un percorso di sperimentazione sulla materia e sulla tecnica,cio’ vuole e’ che gli spettatori interagiscono con le sue opere, e per fare questo,mentre lavora, pensa sempre come sarà l’opera d’arte quando sarà finita e come questa possa interagire con loro.

L’obiettivo primario della sua arte è quindi creare un’opera universale che sia in grado di interagire con tutti i fruitori.

Luigi Citarrela e’ stato scelto come artista per la prossima Biennale di Venezia.

Luigi Citarrella was born in Palermo in 1981. He attended the Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo.

When he was young, he started to work in the foundries in Mazara del Vallo to learn the techniques of sculpture. He studied with a big teachers of sculpture in Sicily that teach him the bases of sculpture and that the ideas are more important than technique Thanks to these teachers he understands what he wants to get across with his artworks.

He starts a path to experimentation about of material and technique. He wants that the viewers interacts with his artwork, and to do this ,while he works, thinks always how will be the artwork when this will be finished and how this could interact with them. His primary objective of his art is to create an universal artwork to be able interact with all viewers.

Luigi Citarrella was chosen as an artist for the next Venice Biennale.
