“Sonic” è uno sguardo sugli ultimi 15 anni dell’archivio musicale di Hedi Slimane, da Londra a New York, con particolare attenzione al ciclo Californiano iniziato da Hedi nel 2007, lo stesso ciclo che ha dato vita alla mostra “California Song” al MOCA di Los Angeles nel 2011.
I ritratti in studio di Lou Reed, Keith Richards, Amy Winehouse e Brian Wilson sono affiancati a quelli di membri della scena alternativa di Londra e quella californiana.
Una selezione tratta da “Sonic” sarà in mostra alla Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent a Settembre 2014. Hedi Slimane è rappresentato dalla galleria Almine Rech.
Il progetto sarà completato da una video installazione, che contrapponendo i cicli musicali di Londra (2003-2007) e quello Californiano (2007-2014) in uno stile documentaristico, tracciano un ritratto alternativo di due generazione di musicisti e fan.

“Sonic” takes a look at 15 years of Hedi Slimane’s musical archives, from London to New York, with particular focus on the Californian cycle begun in 2007, from which came “California Song”, an exhibition held at the MOCA / Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in November 2011.
The studio portraits – of Lou Reed, Keith Richards, Amy Winehouse and Brian Wilson – stand alongside those of alternative scenes from London or California.
An extract from “Sonic” will be exhibited at the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent in September 2014. Hedi Slimane is represented by the Almine Rech Gallery.

The Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent will present an exhibition of photographs by Hedi Slimane entitled “Sonic” from September 2014.
Studio portraits will be taken from 15 years of musical archives, amongst which are black and white prints exhibited for the first time, including portrayals of heroic rock figures, from Lou Reed to Brian Wilson, from Amy Winehouse to Keith Richards.
The project will be completed with a video installation, juxtaposing the musical cycles of London (2003-2007) and California (2007-2014) in a documentary style, painting an alternative portrait of two generations of performers and their fans.
Hedi Slimane is represented by the Almine Rech Gallery.

“Sonic” dresse l’inventaire de 15 années d’archives musicales d’Hedi Slimane, de Londres, à New York, et plus particulièrement du cycle Californien commencé en 2007, et dont l’exposition au Moca / Museum of Contemporary Art de Los Angeles, “California Song”, en novembre 2011 est issue.
Les portraits en studio, ceux de Lou Reed, Keith Richards, Amy Winehouse, Brian Wilson, côtoient ceux des scènes alternatives Londonienne ou Californienne.

La Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent présente à partir de septembre 2014, une exposition de photographies d’Hedi Slimane intitulée “Sonic”.
De 15 années d’archives musicales seront extraits les portraits de studio, dont les tirages noirs et blancs, exposés pour la première fois, évoquent les figures héroïques du rock, de Lou Reed, à Brian Wilson, d’Amy Winehouse à Keith Richards.
Une installation vidéo complètera ce dispositif, juxtaposant les cycles musicaux Londoniens (2003-2007) et Californiens (2007-2014) sous forme documentaire, brossant le portrait alternatif de deux générations de performers et de leurs fans.
Hedi Slimane est représenté par la Galerie Almine Rech.
