Janaina Torres, chef of the Brazilian restaurant A Casa do Porco, received the award for Best Female Chef. Her innovative and creative cuisine, which reinterprets traditional dishes with a modern and bold touch, has conquered the palates of critics and established her as one of the most talented chefs on the international scene.

Unlike most of the restaurants listed in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, this is a casual and accessible space, and boasts one of the most affordable tasting menus in the world, at around $60 per person

Nina Métayerhas instead won the title of Best Pastry Chef. In 2019, after years of leading restaurant pastry departments, she took the plunge and founded her first solo business, Délicatisserie: an online patisserie offering the greatest hits of French pastries and viennoiseries, from fraisier à partager (strawberry shortcrust pastry) to chocolate tarts.

Since then, she has also opened two brick-and-mortar Délicatisserie patisseries in Paris.

Their rise to the top of the list proves that creativity and skill are genderless, and that women are taking their rightful place in an industry that has been dominated by men for too long.
