Prada Re-Nylon represents an ideology and an approach that go beyond the conventional boundaries of fashion: it is part of the mission of the Prada Group which aspires to educate, spark new dialogues and raise awareness, with particular attention to social responsibility.

On the occasion of the new Prada Re-Nylon collection and campaign, and with a constant commitment to education and culture, Prada reveals the second phase of the collaboration with National Geographic Creative Works.

National Geographic Creative Works has delved into the exploration of the ocean, expanding the series of short films with which it debuted in 2019, explaining the process behind the origin of Prada Re-Nylon: from the phase of collecting plastic waste from the ocean (as fishing nets) and from landfills, or from textile fiber waste, up to regeneration in ECONYL®, through a circular approach.

For this second chapter, composed of three episodes, Prada and National Geographic Creative Works delve into the why of Prada Re-Nylon, exploring the dangers facing some of the most delicate ocean and aquatic ecosystems in the world, and the ways in which it is possible to create an impact positive.
• The first episode focuses on the Indo-Pacific region and the fertile islands of the Indian Ocean, and examines the devastating disappearance of coral reefs and the important actions implemented by local communities to counteract its potentially harmful consequences;
• The second, which explores the Arctic, highlights the problem of ocean warming, analyzing the repercussions of humans and their way of life on the environment, showing the knowledge we can acquire from indigenous communities;
• The latest in-depth study presents the Mediterranean ocean ecosystem, and documents how human activity has given rise to invasive species with harmful effects on fishing communities, discovering how to contribute to mitigating the problem before it is too late.

Thanks to the contributions of National Geographic photographers and explorers, each of these shorts allows viewers to immerse themselves in a distinct, diverse and unique marine habitat, exploring the fundamental issues of ocean conservation.

This project represents the latest evolution of the deep collaboration between Prada and National Geographic Creative Works, underlining the vital role of ocean awareness and highlighting how communication can help us achieve lasting change, addressing and even halting harmful effects.

Starting from July 2023, 1% of proceeds from the Prada Re-Nylon collection supports SEA BEYOND, the educational program launched in 2019 by the Prada Group and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO. SEA BEYOND, in line with the Group’s profound social commitment and with the value it has always attributed to education and culture, has contributed to raising awareness among young generations on the issues of sustainability and ocean preservation. Protecting our ocean means first understanding it – learn, think, act.
