For the spring-summer 2023 Haute Couture collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, created makeup that accentuated the eyes with a subtle smoky look: ”i highlighted the eyes with a combination of black shadows blended with silver, in a transparent way. It is a slightly blurred, unpolished smoky eye, which plays on light effects and provides an element of mystery.”

Peter Philips described a focus on the eyes: “i created a smoky eye by favouring transparency and luminosity. To do so, i used the slate grey and silver shades from the 5 couleurs couture 079 black bow palette, which i applied on the upper eyelid, blending out towards the temples. I opened the eye up by also highlighting the lash line of the lower eyelid with the same eyeshadows. The result was a simultaneously dark yet bright look that was a bit blurred, and not too polished.” he continued, detailing “a delicately redefined and structured natural eyebrow, using the diorshow brow styler and the diorshow on set brow.”

Peter Philips described a uniform and luminous complexion: “i prepped the skin with the dior prestige skincare routine by first applying the micro-huile de rose advanced serum, then the crème texture essentielle followed by the micro-serum de rose yeux advanced for the eye area. Next i applied dior forever glow veil primer for radiance. Lastly, i used the dior forever skin glow foundation which lightly evens out the complexion, and then i applied dior forever skin correct for touch-ups.”

Lips looked natural in the range of nude shades from the rouge dior mitzah edition collection, patted gently onto the curves of the lips. The colours were chosen to suit the skin tone of each model from among the following shades: 200 nude touch, 253 rose feline, 424 nude fauve and 915 soft burgundy. Nails looked natural in dior vernis 108 muguet.

Hair was styled in a decidedly roaring twenties fashion, with baby hairs on the temples and cheeks as a unifying theme. Hair was also plaited to form very twenties-style waves creating movement across the entire head. Some models had plaits wrapped in coils at the top of the forehead, then the plaits were gathered and fastened flat at the nape of the neck.
