Gabrielle Chanel made pearls an inseparable element of her allure. Worn over striped tops, tweed suits or little black dresses, she accumulated pearls as multiple sautoirs and necklaces. This key detail was immortalised by both Man Ray and Horst P. Horst in unforgettable photographs. As jewellery or buttons, sophisticated embroidery or oversized and transformed into minaudières, pearls are a constant in the CHANEL repertoire. Now their gentle simplicity provides the inspiration for this winter’s eyewear collection.
Strands of pearls
Reinterpreting a frame that became a classic in 2008, a series of acetate sunglasses takes up the idea of the string of pearls, this season inserted at the base of the temples. A square design and a graphic cat eye are thus dressed with a strand of pearls.
Pearls and chain interlaced with leather
A second eyewear line combines pearls and a chain interlaced with leather, like this butterfly-shaped acetate optical frame with blue-light blocking lenses on which champagne-hued pearls are aligned with a brown leather ribbon.
The Winter 2022/23 eyewear collection will be available from October 2022.
This winter, three sunglasses designs accompany the sporty silhouettes of the Coco Neige collection.
Reinterpreted shields
CHANEL reinterprets the characteristic lines of technical ski goggles on two frames for before and after skiing. The first is enhanced by a grey or rainbow-reflected flash mirror lens and is held in place by a wide, gathered band in black, pale pink or sky blue satin – the main materials and colours of the Coco Neige collection this season. A stretchy grosgrain tab and a matte gold metal buckle allow for optimal adjustment of the shield on the face. The second frame, with thin temples adorned with the CHANEL signature, comes in snowflake white, pale pink or glacier blue.
Sporting spirit
A shield with a streamlined design combines the worlds of skiing and cycling. Made of white or black acetate highlighted with a silver or gold metal line, its sporty dimension is reinforced by a comfortable silicone bridge.
The Coco Neige 2022/23 eyewear collection will be available from October 2022.
