On the first Monday of May, the red carpet of the Met Gala is one of the most followed fashion events of the year and this year’s theme is “Gilded Glamor”, or the golden age of American history, between 1870 and the beginning of the 20th century.

Blake Lively celebrated New York architecture and artistry with her Met Gala 2022 look. Arriving on the red carpet in a custom Atelier Versace tulle column dress embroidered with crystal, metallic leather, paillette, and tri-tone copper foil duchesse, an oversized foiled bow at the waist unraveled to reveal a second look in Verdigris patina—mirroring the transformation of New York’s Statue of Liberty from bronze to oxidized green. The long duchesse train features a hand painted, foiled, and embroidered celestial map inspired by the 12 zodiac constellations decorating the ceiling of Grand Central Station. The original shape of the dress draws inspiration from American designer, Charles James, while art deco shapes recall New York landmarks like the Empire State building.

Emily Ratajkowski attended the Met Gala 2022 in an archival Atelier Versace dress from the Spring-Summer 1992 collection. A metal bustier is enriched by Baroque leaves and multicolored resin stone details. The floral and geometric printed skirt is crafted from georgette with golden tulle and beaded fringes.

Gigi Hadid attended the Met Gala in an Atelier Versace custom puffer coat worn over a corset catsuit, in a modern interpretation of coats from the late 1800s and a refresh of the Dollman silhouette for a new age of glamour. Crafted in a deep jewel-toned burgundy silk duchesse, the oversized opera coat features a degradé quilted finish and is worn over a latex catsuit with boned corset and Atelier Versace pointed neckline. The corset and the overexaggerated volume of the jacket confront each other in a decadent display of contrast inspired by the volume and dramatic change in womenswear silhouettes of late 1800s.

Donatella Versace looked to the American Gold Rush and Gilded Age of the 1800s for her Met Gala outfit. The custom Atelier Versace tulle bustier is inspired by corsetry of the Gilded Age and finished with frayed denim details which extend to the skirt. An embroidery finish of frayed denim, Swarovski gold crystals, gold-leather, and chains, are in reference to the California Gold Rush era.

Model Karlie Kloss wore a custom Givenchy outfit designed by Matthew M. Williams: long black dress in silk tulle and Chantilly lace embroidered with black pearls and beads, worn with matching gloves and black silk Kenny bag.

The singer Rosalìa wore a custom Givenchy Haute Couture outfit designed by Matthew M. Williams: long ivory silk tulle dress embellished with G signature jewels, entirely embroidered with crystals, beads and silk ruffles overlaid with tulle, worn with matching embroidered gloves , ivory embroidered Kenny bag, ivory leather platform high boots, silver G earrings with crystals and black G signature sunglasses.

Amber Valletta wore Buccellati jewels for her MET Gala appearance. She wore multiple statement pieces including a necklace, earrings, multiple cuffs and rings with her golden ensemble.

Rivisiting the craftsmanship and details of the latest MARNI Fall/Winter 2022 runway show, Creative Director Francesco Risso created a custom design for singer-songwriter and recording artist Erykah Badu.
