The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès continues the programme of exhibitions at its Lorraine art space, La Grande Place, with a solo show by artist Andrés Baron, the first in a series curated by the regional art centre Vent des Forêts, until 2023.
“Artist Andrés Baron (b.1986, Bogotá, Colombia), presents “Cling, Cling, Boum”, a new ensemble of visual and audio works created for La Grande Place, following workshop visits, encounters with the foundry’s team of artisans, and his exploration of the collections and archives at the Cristallerie Saint-Louis. Andrés Baron draws on gesture, form and colour to compose a journey evoking the site’s remarkable spirit of place, its dedication to detail and the perfection of artisan skills, and its pursuit of excellence. Within the setting of the foundry’s museum, this artist-magician manipulates bodies, sound, landscapes and objects to create myriad tactile and sensory interactions. Filmed performances and photographic stills combine with the exhibition’s soundtrack to invent a dream-like vocabulary of precise gestures, faces set in intense concentration, and the plastic quality of crystal. Andrés Baron’s images are choice and rarefied, his sound unique, and his reflections and message invaluable.” Pascal Yonet, director, Vent des Forêts
