CHANEL Campaign SS22… a state of summer grace

The campaign for the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection is an ode to youth whose nonchalant grace resonates with the endless days of summer. Within the discreet charm of a villa in Provence, Inez & Vinoodh immortalise the model Vivienne Rohner and through her a certain notion of femininity. Depicted as a New Wave heroine against a cinematographic backdrop, she adopts a rebellious look, pouting lips and an androgynous haircut.

The swimming pool becomes the symbol of a liberated and sensual summer body. For luxuriating in its cool water, the bathing suit appears as a two-piece version in black with a white trim. Two-tone is further magnified as a full-length silhouette: the face hidden behind black sunglasses with wide white temples, the body outlined by a white one-piece bathing suit over a black top, completed with white ballet flats with black tips. Over her shoulder, Vivienne Rohner wears the new CHANEL 22 bag: a large tote in shiny leather, ideal for carrying summer essentials.

Each silhouette reveals a multitude of details: shoe straps like ankle bracelets, duos of cuff bracelets, necklaces and jewelled belts worn in accumulation, patent leather Mary-Janes and coloured quilted bags. Revisited as mini or slit versions, checked skirts are paired with matching jackets rendering the multicolour tweed sublime, while a little dress in light grey denim jacquard is adorned with double Cs.

The campaign encapsulates a state of summer grace. Those languorous moments where long stretches of time can be devoted to reading or simply contemplating nature. In a window frame, a jacket enhanced with a multicolour crochet effect is worn open over a gold jersey bathing suit and jeans printed with coloured butterflies.

Between nonchalance and sensuality, leather is revealed in all its subtle provocation on a jumpsuit veiled with a long silk chiffon cape fastened with a black satin bow. A masterpiece completes this puzzle of seduction: the long dress, with or without sleeves, in silk crêpon and diaphanous stripes that accentuate its ethereal allure. Animated by the famous Horatian adage, the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear campaign invites us to seize the day and conquer the paradise of the present.

The collection will be available in boutiques from March 2022.
