“The Spring / Summer 2022 men’s and women’s fashion shows expressed a strong visceral energy in contrast with beautiful soundscapes. I wanted to continue to use this dialogue also in the campaign, a leap between realities, the pure youthful energy of Mert and Marcus contrasted with Chris Rhodes’s youthful but raw spirit. As the world came out of lockdown, I wanted this campaign to make people feel something, freedom to dream, freedom to feel young and alive again. Both men’s and women’s collections embody Burberry’s code of duality and are captured from multiple perspectives. Individual artistic interpretations create a bridge between two photographers. The rough shots created in the studio by Mert and Marcus are in contrast with the intimate and sincere ones of the photographer Chris Rhodes, taken in the backstage of the Spring / Summer 2022 presentations. The different perceptions allow the collections to be transfigured in their different points of view.
Riccardo Tisci’s Burberry Spring / Summer 2022 collections further explore the idea of identity with narratives that gravitate around femininity and masculinity, emphasizing the fluidity and power of personal expression. Traditional and iconic silhouettes are deconstructed and reconstructed into strong and striking silhouettes and the collections overflow with a sense of youthful and sensual energy.
The campaign plays on the themes of the collection, capturing a union of models together in harmony and focusing on bold shapes and details. The embodiment of a confident attitude: freedom of expression, strength and power.
