Spontaneity, instinct and above all a sense of reality are the sources of inspiration for the campaign for the Miu Miu Spring / Summer 2022 collection by Miuccia Prada, expressed in a series of portraits – authentic and immediate – through still and moving images that represent the essence of these dresses, those who wear them and the free spirit that distinguishes Miu Miu.
Photographed and directed by Tyrone Lebon, these portraits of young women full of creativity symbolize the rebellious soul of Miu Miu.
The raw cut garments fit into sumptuous formality backgrounds, velvet drapes and bright colors. The combination is meant to be a challenge to conventions: a new classic elegance is inherent in the rebellion.
By drawing our attention to actual clothes, these contexts also highlight real people: a dynamic mix of talent from the world of cinema and the catwalks. And, in the same way that classic garments are revisited to lay the foundations of this Miu Miu collection, so this young collective is here reimagined as a group of Miu Miu girls.
Their faces are familiar, part of the language of pop culture, and are those of actress Ever Anderson, of Black Widow (2021) and Peter Pan & Wendy, due out soon (2022); the American super model Hailey Bieber; the Senegalese actress Mame Bineta Sane, star of Atlantics (2019), winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes; French model Alix Bouthors, who opened the Miu Miu Spring / Summer 2022 fashion show; Emmy-nominated British actress Emma Corrin; and South Korean actress Lee You-mi, the revelation star of Squid Game.
Each extraordinary and unique, these talented young women are suddenly immortalized, in all their spontaneity and naturalness. They escape any character study, rebel against fantasy and, instinctively, represent only themselves.
