Inspired by the language of evening dresses – with its sparkling vocabulary made of sequin embroidery, crystals, silks and shiny velvets – Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu Nuit collection is immortalized, for the advertising campaign, in the darkness of the night.
The images have a dual function: they are portraits of individual women – actresses Ever Anderson, Ciara Bravo and KiKi Layne – and at the same time an overview of the Miu Miu universe as a whole.
In the shots by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the protagonists of the campaign are photographed in poses composed in closed spaces that speak of the night: a deserted bar, a carpeted room, the illuminated entrance of a club for members only.
The images seem charged with the memory of celebrations that have just ended or of others about to begin. Even the dresses themselves, embroidered and embellished, allude to those joyful and optimistic moments. In this new generation of female talents acclaimed for their ability to transform, each of these stars shines with its own light.
Here, these women embody other characters and, paradoxically, even themselves, dressed in an irreverent and sophisticated way, caught in a fleeting moment. Moving between different realities, they play roles, pretend – to make us believe.
