Alexander McQueen | United silhouettes
“It seems now is the time to heal, to breathe new life, to explore echoes of the past to enrich our future. More than ever, a sense of humanity, of a team working together with a single goal – to do something beautiful, something meaningful – concepts that are both precious and important. We looked at the water, for its healing properties, and the anemones. Anemones are the most ephemeral flowers, here made permanent on fabric. Women who wear anemone dresses become almost like flowers, like their incarnation, their character but amplified, rooted, radiant and strong “. Sarah Burton, Creative Director.
The garments and fabrics are spliced and reinvented evoking a certain familiarity. Each piece is renewed – the couture silhouette for every day. A parka with exploded hood and sleeves in blue poly faille and navy denim with a flared panel skirt.
The fabrics used enhance both the silhouette and the construction. Here raw denim is spliced with a khaki poly faille parka. The finished garment is assembled.
