Celebrando il suo decimo anno alla PFW, Albert Kriemles collabora con l’artista Thomas Ruff per la collezione Akris 2014-15, uno degli artisti più influenti del panorama artistico internazionale traendo ispirazione da una delle sue serie di foto Stars, Nights, M.A.R.S., Cassini e Photograms. Thomas era fra gli ospiti della sfilata che si è tenuta nella splendida location del Grand Palais.

I suoi ultimi lavori consistono in una rielaborazioni di immagini che vengono ricomposte in formati monumentali.

“Le foto di Thomas sono un sagace commento al nostro mondo dominato dai media e non sono mai esattamente quello che sembrano, c’è sempre qualcosa di inaspettato da scoprire e non puoi sempre decifrare l’enigma che si nasconde dietro di esse” ha detto Kriemler. “Conoscevo il lavoro di Thomas ma è stata una sua mostra a Monaco nel 2012 a farmi nascere l’idea di questa collaborazione per la mia collezione ispirata dai suoi lavori”

“Quando Albert Kriemler mi ha parlato di questa sua idea, non avrei potuto essere più sorpreso, non riuscivo a capire come le mie immagini potessero entrare a far parte della sua collezione, ma in seguito mi ha completamente convinto”. ha detto Ruff “Albert sta sfidando le convenzioni con una creatività incredibile e un’altrettanto incomparabile tecnica, ha un talento unico per scegliere la stoffa perfetta da un’infinità di opzioni possibili e utilizza innovative tecniche sartoriali. Sono sbalordito dal modo in cui ha trasformato le mie immagini in qualcosa di completamente nuovo”.

Albert Kriemler è un avido osservatore della fotografia e dell’arte contemporanea, è un vero pioniere per quanto riguarda la stampa digitale di foto su tessuto, ha iniziato nel 2006, traendo ispirazione da artisti come Ian Hamilton Finlay e Franz Kline. Precedenti collezioni erano influenzate da pittori come Felix Valloton e Giorgio Morandi.

“La stampa digitale è un fattore chiave per Akris, queste stampe ora sono collezionabili, ma è molto lontano dall’essere una semplice rappresentazione fotorealistica di immagini esistenti sui tessuti” ha detto Albert Kriemler

Sia Thomas Ruff che Albert Kreimler sono ispirati dalla trasformazione di immagini esistenti in rappresentazioni astratte attraverso l’utilizzo delle più sofisticate tecnologie dei loro rispettivi campi di interesse.

Celebrating ten years at Paris Fashion Week, Albert Kriemler collaborates with German artist Thomas Ruff for his Akris Fall/Winter 2014/15 collection.

For Fall/Winter 2014/15, Albert Kriemler is working with one of today’s most influential artists, Thomas Ruff and images from five of his photo series, Stars, Nights, ma.r.s., cassini and Photograms. Thomas Ruff attended the défilé in Paris at 6 pm on Sunday, March 2nd 2014, at the Grand Palais.

Thomas Ruff, born in 1958 in Germany, was a student of Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf and was first acknowledged in the eighties for his frontal halfbodied portraits redefining the boundaries of the genre.

Later, he started to transform existing images into highly elaborate monumental images.

In April, a major exhibition at Gagosian Gallery in Los Angeles will show his new Photograms, created in a virtual darkroom. Several other exhibitions, in Tokyo, Zurich, Ghent and Düsseldorf, mark a significant year for the artist.

”Thomas’ pictures are a comment on our media-driven world and are never quite what they seem to be. There is always something unexpected to discover and you never really can decipher their enigma”, said Kriemler. “I was familiar with his body of work, but it was at a comprehensive exhibition in 2012 in Munich’s Haus der Kunst, when I had the idea to create a collection one day with the inspiration of Thomas Ruff’s work.”

“When Albert Kriemler came up with the idea for a collaboration, I could not have been more surprised. It was beyond my imagination how my images could be part of a fashion collection. In the process, he totally convinced me”, Ruff noted. „Albert is challenging conventions with tremendous creativity and skill. He has a unique talent to select the perfect fabric from a variety of options and he uses innovative cutting techniques. I am mesmerized by the way he transformed my images into something entirely new.”

Albert Kriemler is an avid observer of photography and contemporary art. As a pioneer of digital photo print in fashion, starting in 2006, he was inspired by artists like Ian Hamilton Finlay and Franz Kline for his collections. Earlier collections were influenced by painters Félix Valloton and Giorgio Morandi.

“Digital photo print is a signature of Akris. These prints are now collectibles. But it is far beyond a photorealistic representation of existing images on a fabric”, said Albert Kriemler.

Both Thomas Ruff and Albert Kriemler are inspired by transforming existing photographic images into abstract representations using the most advanced technologies in their respective fields.

“Our tenth anniversary in Paris felt like the right moment to take photo print in my collection to a new level and collaborate with a living artist for the first time”, said Albert Kriemler.
