From the unique perspective of the FENDI headquarters in Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, the view expands as far as the eye can see towards the seven hills of Rome, the Apennines and glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea. Nature and architecture merge on a scenographic canvas of soft colors, which transform over the course of the day, to reveal the multifaceted topography of the region through a light that changes infinitely.

“How and from what perspective you see things has never been as important as today”, says Silvia Venturini Fendi, FENDI’s Artistic Director of Men’s Accessories and Collections. “The particular point of view of each of us in this period has changed our perception of the world: mine is very much linked to what I see from the arches and roof of our Palazzo. From here, it is like observing Rome from a d ‘flight. bird. The colors and the perspective are constantly changing. The delicate palette of the Roman sky during the day is so beautiful: I wanted it to be a central point of this collection. “

The thoughts that arise from observing the world from above have inspired the FENDI Men’s Spring / Summer 2022 collection, a game of lightness and harmony with a keen focus on the future of luxury. A delicate palette evokes the flora and changing skies of spring, with pastel tones of lemon, lime, ice blue, lavender, pistachio and peony in contrast with the mineral nuances of travertine, chalk, graphite and slate.

Like a daydream, which from FENDI spreads to the rest of the world, the surroundings of the Roman hinterland inspire prints, shapes and processes, in a natural study of proportions and scales. Taken from the FENDI archives, an illustrated map of Rome becomes FENDI Land, a cartographic drawing of the city with Palazzo Fendi in the center, while the Tiber river flows through a labyrinth of buildings and streets adorned here and there with freehand FF logos. In a harmonious suite of topographic simulations entitled FENDI Earth, abstract motifs with sharp outlines float on dresses in linen silk, jacquard denim, crochet t-shirts and inlaid shearling.

The conceptual distortion of the staircase creates new sartorial volumes, while the summer dresses, with a hybrid nature, combine a multitude of materials, shapes and functional details.

The FENDI Men’s Spring / Summer 2022 accessories collection is a playful escape from reality, where everyday objects are transformed through FENDI’s craftsmanship. The goggles and headphones, made in collaboration with ARENA, join the bags for table tennis rackets, becoming the new and ironic must-have accessories for the summer.

Directed by Nico Vascellari, the film from the FENDI Men’s Spring / Summer 2022 collection is an ode to the Roman landscape, with a tribute to the themes of the first science fiction cinema. By drawing the map of Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, the models reveal the rationalist architecture of the building thanks to their path, while day gives way to night and an evocative show of pulsating lights comes to life in the FENDI headquarters. Conceived by composer Alessandro Cortini, the film is accompanied by a nine-minute electronic work created specifically for FENDI, with synthesizer songs inspired by space travel and new perspectives of the Palazzo seen from above.
