“Questa collezione parla di una storia, la mia. La storia della mia famiglia che, come tantissime altre nell’est-Europa, è stata forzatamente condizionata dalla guerra, la stessa storia di tutti coloro che hanno dovuto lasciare l’est fuggendo all’ovest nelle condizioni più difficili e dure.

Creando questa collezione la prima immagine che mi è saltata davanti agli occhi è quella di una strada deserta e sporca, la gelida terra spazzata da una pioggia battente che trasforma tutto in un mare di fango e che ingoia questo esodo di massa come un gigantesco e mostruoso mare. Tutti sono stati toccati da tutto questo: aristocratici, militari ma anche intellettuali, borghesi, contadini e lavoratori.

Non è questa, del resto, la storia e il destino dell’Europa contemporanea?”

Goasia Baczynska and the inspiration behind her collection in her own words

This collection is about a story, mine. The story of my family, among many others in this part of Eastern Europe, who was forcefully driven by war. The same story of all those who had to leave to go from East to West in the toughest conditions.

In creating this collection, the image of a dirt road came to me. The cold earth battered by the rain which turned into  mud and absorbed this mass exodus as a monstrous gigantic sea. Everybody was affected : aristocrats, military, but also intellectuals, bourgeois, peasants and workers.

Is it not the History and fate of Contemporary Europe?
