“For the Spring / Summer 2021 fashion show, I wanted to create this incredible experience: to combine fashion, art, music, technology and live performance and explore the dialogue they have between them. The concept of duality has always inspired me. It has been amazing. witness the unique energy and dynamic tension arising from the fusion of all these worlds. This campaign aims to continue the examination of different perspectives, contrasting the rigor of closed spaces with the ever-flourishing nature in the world ” Riccardo Tisci, Chief Creative Officer of Burberry
Photographed by Juergen Teller, the campaign presents a dichotomy between the images: two different realms, internal and external, nature and fashion.
The images captured inside the scenography of the Spring / Summer 2021 fashion show, with models immersed in nature, are juxtaposed with classic rough shots in the studio. Through these opposing lenses, the collection is presented from different points of view, transforming itself with the environment that surrounds it.
Playing on the dominant theme of the collection, rooted in a modern love story between a mermaid and a shark, the Spring / Summer 2021 campaign continues to expand on one of the Burberry house codes: duality – constantly exploring the fusion of romance with innovation, form with function and past with future.
The Spring / Summer 2021 collection remastered the brand’s iconic emblems and hallmarks – its character, nature and unique British DNA – with a free, modern energy. A spirit of rebellion that renews tradition. Natural canvas, denim and rubberized industrial fabrics are combined with delicate chiffon and crystal embroidery: streetwear meets classic.
Alongside Juergen Teller, Riccardo brought together a team of iconic talents including stylist Katy England, Burberry Global Beauty director Isamaya Ffrench and hair stylist Gary Gill. The cast includes models He Cong, Tyler Forbes, Khali Ghani, Kayako Higuchi, Tashi Kwaiye, Reece Nelson, Yiorgos Paraskevas, Aylah Peterson, Claus Royo, Liv Walter, Anok Yai.
