With an audience-free show held behind closed doors*, and celebrating the traditional arts and crafts of Puglia, on July 22, Dior will unveil its cruise 2021 collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri. This event will serve to highlight the excellence of this invaluable savoir-faire. From the art of weaving to the luminarie – dazzling architectures in light – from the passion of dance to the power of ritual music, the house of Dior actively encourages this diverse and precious culture, while paying tribute to the landscapes unique to this region, a land that has long held a deep importance for the Creative Director of the Dior women’s collections. With the stimulating exchanges between Paris and Lecce exploring the House codes having started long before the health crisis and imposition of lockdown, it was even more essential for Dior to continue these collaborations in order to support and promote the virtuosity of these artisans and artists, to ensure that the poetry and the beauty of their work is transmitted through this reinvention, and that the Dior dream continues.
The House extends its sincerest thanks to the Archbishop of Lecce, S.E.R. Monsignor Michele Seccia, as well as the City Hall of Lecce, and its mayor, Carlo Salvemini.
* presented exclusively online and complying with the security measures in force which will be very rigorously respected, the health of all involved remaining the highest priority.
