The YUMI KATSURA couture collection inspired by the beauty of Japanese calligraphy. A new vision of Japanese calligraphy, expressing powerful and elegant straight lines, with pleats and Japanese traditional techniques – “suminagashi” (marbling ink) and gradation dyeing.

From around the 8th century to 12th century, the Marbling ink technique was brought to Japan from Europe by the silk road. This technique “suminagashi” was then used by artisans. With painstaking craftsmanship, we use the unique Japanese marbling ink patterns, none of which has the same pattern, to create modern fashion design ideas and make our graceful collections.
