“By temperament and instinct I crave for the super fluous. The aesthetic education of my spirit lures me towards the desire and the purchase of beautiful things”.
Gabriele D’Annunzio, Italian poet
The patterns created by Nesi – since years the designer of the Marella silk scarves collections – are a cluster of decorative motifs blending Baroque and Déco. His imagery is based on exploring the main artistic movements of the beginning of the 20th Century and revisiting them in a modern way. The emotional and irrational sphere is highlighted by an extraordinary graphic coding which transforms symbolist poetry in to shapes and colours.
A lush summery imagery, a silent underwater world, pure and vibrant nature which is threatened by the modern world, blend with an idealised, almost my thological, concept of femininity. This idealised femininity portrayed by D’Annunzio’s heroines and the match of myth with nature are the protagonists of the Nesi’s collection, a capsule for spring summer 2019 which conveys the whole range of aesthetic feelings of silk scarves on light and summery dresses, blouses, skirts and wide trousers in flowing twill.
