DIOR used poetically symbolic pieces for Chinese NEW YEAR collection

1352

To mark the Chinese New Year, Maria Grazia Chiuri has reinterpreted a famous and iconic Dior fabric: toile de Jouy, which from 1947 decorated the House’s “Colifichets” boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne. On this emblematic canvas, which became a Dior code and signature, the Artistic Director set red hydrangeas abloom, evoking Christian Dior’s passion for a color he described as “the color of life”, and in turn paying tribute to his fascination with flowers, whose loveliness he considered equal to women themselves. For Monsieur Dior, femininity was delicate, exquisite, and to be celebrated.Symbols of grace, gratitude and prosperity, these hydrangeas also reconnect with the superstitious spirit ofthe founding couturier, a man who was never without his lucky charms, some of which were flowers. The result is this series of unique, poetically symbolic pieces at the core of the Dior cruise 2019 collection.
