“Dualism is an integral part of FENDI’s DNA, in all its forms,” says Silvia Venturini Fendi. Dialogue is one of these: the meeting and connection of two personalities.

Silvia Venturini Fendi and the “Guest Artist” Karl Lagerfeld: a creative relationship that has lasted a lifetime and which now becomes explicit in the Fall / Winter Men’s Collection 2019-2020. Handwritten notes, images, drawings: a moodboard connects the Paris studio and its gigantic library to the study of Rome without interruption, in the form of collage through the Collection.

The dialogue starts from a drawing: a tailored jacket with a shawl collar on one side and the classic lapels on the other. Everything is double: futurism alternates with classicism in a palette dominated by black, beige and brown, with accents of red and electric blue. The transparency and the see-through effect give consistency to the fluctuating lightness of FENDI, playing with volumes and materials: organza tuxedos, like parka duvets and inlaid fur garments. The zippers divide into two sweaters and garments in nappa plongé, functionally exchanging the left with the right, front and back. The metallic and iridescent shine of silver and gold is a reference to the world of streetwear, from anorak to mink fur. Small chains draw pinstripes on high-necked shirts and stripes on ribbed sweaters. The futuristic FF logo alternates with the calligraphic logo, also appearing on accessories, from gold chains to chevalier rings. Cuban heels, on cordovan or patent leather shoes, recall Lagerfeld’s signature.

Always on the go, the FENDI man travels with suitcases, folding or protected by transparent covers that turn into shoppers. The legendary Baguette debuts in men’s, mini and maxi versions, in precious crocodile, mink and saddle leather, to wear cross-body, by hand or as a baby carrier. The Peekaboo family is presented in different models and versions: X-Lite Fit and the new Essential for men. PORTER nylon meets these two FENDI icons, making them ultralight and oversize, for a contemporary collaboration. According to Silvia Venturini Fendi, the moment is right to rediscover the sartorial formality, always in the FENDI way.
