ISSEY MIYAKE presents the fourth series of the IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE collection, with motifs taken from the works of Ikko Tanaka, a well-known graphic designer who has had a strong impact on the history of design in the world.
A project born in 2016 as an expression of Issey Miyake’s respect for Tanaka’s work and as a sign of gratitude for the many inspirations. In the reproduction on the clothes we have remained faithful to his original works and the colors used. The goal is not to use the works of Ikko as a simple graphic motif but to create vibrant and energetic clothes, enhancing his work in a three-dimensional version.
For this new series two of Tanaka’s motifs were chosen: Continuous Symbol and Circle.
We focused on the dynamism and humor of each work, as well as on the feeling of warmth that it transmits. For the realization of the details, different materials were selected, recreating a simple and sporty design.
Ikko Tanaka has persevered in constantly creating new values, transporting the strength of his work into clothes. We hope that many people will recognize the essence and humor of its design. IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE is an expression of the thought of Issey Miyake.

ISSEY MIYAKE presenta la quarta serie della collezione IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE, con motivi tratti dai lavori di Ikko Tanaka, noto graphic designer che ha avuto un forte impatto sulla storia del design nel mondo.
Un progetto nato nel 2016 come espressione del rispetto di Issey Miyake nei confronti del lavoro di Tanaka e come segno di gratitudine per le molteplici ispirazioni. Nella riproduzione sugli abiti si è rimasti fedeli ai suoi lavori originari e ai colori utilizzati. L’obiettivo non è quello di impiegare le opere di Ikko come semplice motivo grafico ma di creare abiti vibranti e pieni di energia, esaltando il suo lavoro in versione tridimensionale.
Per questa nuova serie sono stati scelti due dei motivi di Tanaka: Continuous Symbol e Circle.
Ci siamo concentrati sul dinamismo e sull’umorismo di ciascun opera, nonché sul sentimento di calore che trasmette. Per la realizzazione dei dettagli sono stati selezionati diversi materiali, ricreando un design semplice e sportivo.
Ikko Tanaka ha perseverato nel creare costantemente nuovi valori, trasportando la forza del suo lavoro negli abiti. Speriamo che molte persone possano riconoscere l’essenza e l’umorismo del suo design. IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE è espressione del pensiero di Issey Miyake.
