Mira Mikati – armed with the vision of a decidedly distinct sartorial niche, Lebanese-born, Paris-raised Mira Mikati pursued her fashion ambitions from a young age. Collections of carefree-meets-cool designs span the realms of playfully gamine and candidly feminine – all while channelling inspirational undertones hatched from art world collaborations. 
 
   Mira Mikati has made her contemporary fairy tale come true – launched colorful Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Borne out of all-too sombre times, the collection represents a newfound take on life empowered by a light-hearted and spirited approach. Graceful clothes adorned in animated surface decoration conjure childlike ideas, such as naivety, reflected in the invigorating power of escapism. It is a bright and joyful wardrobe created for a new sense of optimism.


 
  Dreamy refrains and sceneries inspired by fairy tales such as Alice in Wonderland and The Prince and the Frog, set the tone for playful and whimsical garments rooted in the world of fantasy.  
Used in jumpsuits, dresses, tops and skirts, bright white serves as the canvas for a collection embellished with feel-good ornamentation in all the colours of the rainbow. Joyful depictions feature on the backs of jumpsuits – in both cady and as a transparent tulle cut-out – or emblazoned across the front and backs of jersey cotton sweatshirts. Scattered on a bomber jacket and a cut-out denim jacket, the images are further adapted in the intarsia of an eco-leather jacket.

 

  Cementing the innocent and naïve mood, a hand-sketched sun print appears in sportswear and shirtdresses, while dots and drops drawn by hand speckle pieces of a more formal nature. Primary-coloured trompe l’oeuil stencilling outlines the classic detailing on a trench coat and a hoodie, nodding at a candid approach to embellishment, and multi-shaded tie-dye boosts the vibrant palette. Introducing eveningwear to the Mira Mikati repertoire, the collection’s artisanal value is heightened in a formal blue dress with embroidered fairy-tale motifs on organza, as well as open-back dresses and jumpsuits. Likewise, slides appear in printed sun towelling, with floral appliqué, and garlanded with the brand’s signature Happy Monsters, which feature in detailing throughout the collection.
