Every year PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE presents fascinating visuals, starting from the “Happy Anniversary” series launched in 2014 on the occasion of the brand’s 20 years. Among these were “Flowers”, “Animals” and “Vitamin”. This year we offer “SEA”, a selection of bright-colored sea creatures that come to life from the clothes in the collection. Among the first illustrated animals of the new series we find an octopus, a seahorse, a squid and a jellyfish. Visual Concept “The theme of the year of PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE is” SEA “(sea). Starting from the octopus, they will appear to follow different sea creatures. The earth is a fluid planet, partially covered by the ocean, which is said to be the origin of life. These figures are not influenced by gravity like earthly creatures, they are unique, incredibly colorful and beautiful. I thought a lot about them, wondering how and if, it would have been possible to represent them with pleats. Finally I managed to make them. Quest’anno vi proponiamo “SEA”, una selezione di creature marine dai colori brillanti che prendono vita dagli abiti della collezione. Tra i primi animali illustrati della nuova serie troviamo un polpo, un cavalluccio marino, un calamaro e una medusa.
Visual Concept “Il tema dell’anno di PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE è “SEA” (mare). A cominciare dal polpo, appariranno a seguire diverse creature marine. La terra è un pianeta fluido, parzialmente coperto dall’oceano, che si dice sia l’origine della vita. Queste figure non sono influenzate dalla gravità come le creature terrestri, sono uniche, incredibilmente colorate e belle. Ho pensato molto a loro, chiedendomi come e se, sarebbe stato possibile rappresentarle con il plissè. Finalmente sono riuscito a realizzarli. Guardando queste grafiche, e vestiti in plissè, per favore immaginatevi mentre fate una passeggiata sul mare.” Taku Satoh, graphic designer.
