Henrik Vibskov, multi-talented artist, designer, musician, film director and also the first Scandinavian to belong to the union chamber of men’s fashion will never cease to surprise us.
After many exhibitions installations around the world, now the danish designer will head to shanghai for his next exhibition.
From July 8th until October 8th it will be possible to enjoy at the The Powerlong Museum a textil art and archaic musical installation that defies gravity. An exhibition at the image of Henrik Vibskov, which combines art, fashion and music.
Henrik Vibskov has been recognized by “playful fashion sense that steers clear of Scandinavian minimalism, emphasizing instead the eclectic sensibility of multicultural Copenhagen”.
Many prizes he has won, including the Jury Prize at the Danish Fashion Awards 2012 and Brand of the Year DANSK Fashion Awards 2008. He has exhibited at MoMA PS1 in New York, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, ICA in London, Zeeuws Museum in Holland, and many other institutions.
WAVELENGTH: RESET explores interventions into the networks of everyday life. Through distinct approaches, the participating artists take on the natural, manufactural, and technological structures, to dismantle and replace the material networks and thus to invoke the heightened issue of fast consumption and sustainable resources in a post-industrial era.
Taking inspiration from the factory space, WAVELENGTH: RESET presents a deconstructive view of urban landscape with a touch of futuristic essence. During the exhibition, audiences will view greens sprouting from abandoned clothes; metallic luster shimmering from the surface of scaffolding and shelves; all together with disposable furnitures, twisted florescent tubes, glass reflections and the glowing LEDs. In the cycle of production, consumption and disposal, materials undergo the process of “RESET”- transformation and reconstruction – and return to the ecological system; and all human actions will finally affect our lives.
Occupying 3500 square meter on the first floor of Powerlong Museum, WAVELENGTH: RESET consists of four sections. At the museum entrance is a 6-meter, site-specific installation of white balloons created by French artist Charles Pétillon. Renowned artists including Venice Biennale participants, Claudia Casarino; Trevor Andrew, aka. Gucci Ghost; The DANSK Fashion Awards winner, Henrik Vibskov; The Dutch Fashion Awards winner, Bas Kosters; Whitney Biennial participants Amanda Ross-Ho, David Robbins, John Riepenhoff and Saige Rowe. Works from German artist Anselm Reyle and Chinese artist Xu Zhen® will all showcase their latest creations.
