For the fall 2018 ready-to-wear campaign, Jennifer Lawrence, actress and Dior muse, is captured by Brigitte Lacombe in a spare setting that echoes the self portraits of surrealist artist Claude Cahun (pseudonym of Lucy Schwob, 1894-1954). Her images questioning identity and gender were key inspirations to Maria Grazia Chiuri for this collection. Made from typically masculine fabrics, of the kind used by Christian Dior in his day, the clothes – and the allures they convey – demonstrate that fashion is the primary prism through which masculine-feminine duality defines 21st-century individuality.
